My 800 VA Su-Kam Home UPS (Inv.) is working great

Before buying this 800VA Pure Sine Wave Home UPS(inverter) I was using local make assembled Inverter but as the requirement increased that old inverter was not able to cater to my increased requirements mainly due to usage of my two computers. Model No. of my inverter is M-HUPS(S/W) with 800 VA/12 V capacity. It has 150 AH Exide Battery and the day I bought it I replaced all normal bulbs of my house with CFL(nearly 12-15).

I bought this Inverter in April 2006 which can be considered as peak season for inverter market. Therefore right at the moment of paying for it I had to pay a little extra amount for battery because of non-availability of battery that particular time so be sure about the time when you really go for making payment for purchase because you may end up paying little higher than what you had expected. I also had to pay extra for wiring charges. I was told to get the wiring done the next day I had bought but electrician from Su-Kam dealer turned up after 2 days which I think was reasonable delay considering the peak season time. Everything went very smoothly with wiring and electrician did his best to meet my demands. After we were done with wiring when we started the inverter it started behaving erratic whenever we shut off the supply. The person who accmpanied electrician was prompt enough to go and get the item replaced within 45 minutes(I thought myself the luckiest person that moment) then after some teething problems my inverter with all the wiring etc. was working properly after 10 hours of continuous working and it was past 10 in the night when electrician left.

As far using the appliances being used with it, because the wiring was done for almost all the electric points of the house, the list is quite long: CFL, Fans, Tubelights, RO Water Purifier, Battery Chargers, Mobile Chargers, Portable TV, Two Computers(yes, simultaneously), Portable TV, Liquid Mosquito Repellents etc. and I must admit that so many times we at our house never actually realize that there is no electricity. I have even used Drill Machine with my inverter having all other appliances off and it worked fine with that too. GREAT!

Since the time it was installed, during these 9 months I have only replaced water twice which looking at the usage it is remarkable. May be everything is new this time so it is like that but uptil now I am more than satisfied with my inverter.

If I am working on my computer and electricity goes off I dont even realize that there is no electricity but turning monitor on(active) from off while on inverter causes computer to reboot and that is most probably because of heavy load my 17" CRT monitor requires in initial start but otherwise once it is started everything goes smooth. On so many occasions I have worked more than 2 hours continuously and never got a problem and eventually shutdown myself just to be on safe side.

I had bought this inverter with case(not trolly, i.e. without wheels) which as per my vender is the only option with Su-Kam. Though, it looks fine but handling of inverter with this case is quite a task. The joints of case are very fragile and if you tend to push it from the middle or top instead of very bottom then most likely you will have it broken. In my opinion one should go for trolly(not case) i.e. with wheels and you must remember that you will need to check water level frequently and fill in the battery too which can be done only from the top and for that either you take the battery out or remove the upper tray on which inverter is placed and in both the cases you may have wire cuts or loosening of wire joints. One can also think of getting custom made trolly from carpenter which can match the ambience of room and make top platform easily removable or slide out type(like keyboard tray) so that u can easily check the water level and fill it in the battery below it without any difficulty.

Its visual notifications and alarms are just fine. When there is no electricity it lets me work on my PC for hours while my little son enjoys his cartoons on his portable TV. So friends, as far as my experience is concerned, I never had a single moment to blame my inverter and feel lucky to have it.
