I had been to many branches of Subodh Chandra Mullick restaurant in Kolkata in last 30 years of my stay in Kolkata. Subodh Chandra Mullick is a traditional Bengali restaurant where you will find varieties of snacks and sweets in Bengali flavour which are good in taste. I just take a stop there to have my refreshments whenever I get the chance. Some basic stuff like kachori-sabji, radha vallabhi, singhara, rasgulla, paantua, sweet curd, sandesh, bonde is common stuff here. Apart from that there are few other varieties which are worth to taste in typical Bengali flavour. Definitely, you can have tea or coffee also as a hot drink.
It is not like a typical restaurant where you sit and enjoy the dish but there are few table and chairs. Overall, it is just a stand and eats system. If you are not able to occupy the table to keep your dish then you have to manage your eating by keeping plate in your hand only. The service is too fast. It takes around two minutes to serve you from the time you ordered your stuff to the staff person. The surrounding area is neat and clean with Bengali interior of the restaurant which is commanding in its look. In the morning and evening time, you have to stand on the street side and have your stuff. It’s a good place to try Bengali snacks and sweet items with its own unique taste.
