There are over 8, 000 SUBWAY RESTAURANTS in Canada, (except the Province of Quebec) and the United States and over 2, 000 in other Countries. I have eaten at quite a few because their sandwiches are made to order.
SOME HISTORY, (from my encyclopedia and Subway information):
The first sandwich was made Lord Sandwich IV. The Subway Company began 35 years ago the owners Dr. Peter Buck and Fred DeLuca designed a new way of making a sandwich. Today it is the largest submarine sandwich franchise in the World.
WHEN YOU ENTER A SUB SHOP:
The first time I decided to see what a sub shop was I was surprised when I walked in. The place was spotless and there was a long line waiting to order. There was a lot of staff so I only waited to reach the front on the line.
The decore of the Shop is nice and not over done.
THE MENU:
The sub rolls are homemade fresh every day. You have to decide if you want a brown or white roll first. Next your choice is between a six-inch or twelve-inch sub.
The fillings are different in every Country. For example in Muslim Countries there is no pork served, Chicken Tikka, (made with curry), is my favorite in England and when I was in Australia Ilove the Chicken Satay, (made in a peanut sauce). In Canada we dont have these exotic sandwiches.
Next I had to choose from:
A 6-inch sub the selections were: a Veggie Delite, Ham, Roast Beef, Subway Club, Roasted Chicken Breast, Turkey Breast & Ham and a Turkey Breast. To the 6-inch sub you can add onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, green peppers and olives.
Selected Sandwiches are: Asiago Caesar, Roast Beef with Horseradish, Honey Mustard Melt, Southwest Chicken and Steak with Cheese. You can add cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and green peppers.
The Classic Sandwiches are: Meat Ball, Tuna, Cold Cut Trio, Italian B.M.T., Subway Melts, Seafood & Crab and Steak with Cheese with onions & peppers. You can add more cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, green peppers, olives, salt, pepper and oil.
The Salads are: Turkey Breast, Veggie Delite, Chicken Breast and Tuna. Eat them with or without a bun.
There are Wraps that you can fill with Asiago Caesar Chicken, Turkey Breast & Bacon and Steak with Cheese.
They also have Kids Pacs, Party Pacs, bags of potato Chips, Cookies and a variety of juice, soda pop and bottled water.
WHAT I USE TO ORDER:
I loved the 6-inch subs that were made with Meal Balls, an Italian B.M.T., Honey Mustard Melt and the Steak with Melted Cheese. I dont order these any more because of the DIET!
THE DIET:
In Canada a Subway Ad showing people who used their diet had lost weight. I am not in to fad diets so I ignored the Ad.
A Month ago I was reading Macleans Magazine, (a Canadian Magazine), that had an article about a man who weighed over 300 lbs. He had tried everything to loose weight, (including having his stomach stapled), and nothing worked. When he saw the Subway add he though he had nothing to loose. In three months he has lost 60 lbs. The owner of the Subway Shop told him if he reached his desired weight he would refund all they money that the man had spent on buying Subs.
I thought I had nothing to loose so the next day I went on the Sub Diet. For lunch I have a 6-inch Vegetable Sub with no mayo or butter. At dinner I have a choice of 6 lean meat dinners. I order one of them on a 12 inch Sub and I find I am not hungry until I go to bed. I no longer need to have snacks. I have lost 5 lbs. in about a Month. I did check with my Doctor before I went on the Sub Diet and so sound you if you plan on going on any diet.
THE COMPANY, (from their site):
The Company is in Milford, Connecticut, U.S.A.
The Countries you will find sub shops are Australia, Canada, England, Bangladesh, Croatia. Finland, India, Poland, Tanzania and the United States.
In addition to shops on the street and malls they have opened shops in airports, colleges, convenience stores, grocery store, hospitals, one Laundromat, some military bases, theme parks, truck stops, universities and zoos.
SOME THOUGHTS:
I find SUBWAY SHOPS clean. They serve fresh food in the fastest time possible. Their Staff is always helpful and never rush me when I am trying to decide what to eat.
If you have not tried the SUBWAY RESTAURANT I hope you will soon.
