Some background info on the restaurant:
Started in 1965, it is the world’s largest submarine sandwich chain with more than 21, 000 restaurants in 75 countries. As a matter of fact, the SUBWAY chain operates more units in the US and Canada than McDonald’s does.
The first SUBWAY restaurant in India opened in December of 2001 in the Saket area of New Delhi.
Although the most popular sandwiches at SUBWAY shops in India are the Roasted Chicken sub and the Veggie Delite, there are a number of sandwiches that have been developed especially with the Indian palate in mind. They include Corn and Peas; Falafel; Humus; Spicy Veggie; Garden Pizza; Chicken Tikka; and Paneer Tikka. Paneer is similar to cottage cheese and Tikka-style foods are cooked in clay ovens with traditional Indian spices and are available with a garnish of Mint Mayonnaise.
I tasted my first Subway a few years ago in the US and was waiting for a outlet to be open in Bangalore.
I think it finally happened and I was really happy to see one on Brigade Road.
I prefer the veggie delite. I think the taste is the same world-over.
Best thing about subway is that it is nutritious and low on calories. It is much much better than any of theses burgers and pizzas.
It was my favourite on all my road trips in the US.
But, they need to improve a lot on the service part. No one follows the queue system here and especially over the weekends it is worse.
Also the pricing has to be bit more competitive. I think they do have door delivery. But again that is one more department where they need to focus on to become successful in India.
