The demarcation of mobile games has changed very quickly over a few years, we have advanced from solitaire, snakes or memorize to endless run games. One such run games produced by Kiloo Games and Sybo Games is Subway Surfers!
About the game:
Subway Surfers is yet another endless run game just like Temple Run. It has more twists and turns than Temple Run, which makes it a lot more interesting.
The core of the game is that, we have run along three sets of subway tracks as far as we can, while running we have collect coins, power ups and mystery boxes, avoid a series of obstacles like trains, light posts, jump over the wooden obstacles and roll between the tunnels.
We can switch between left, middle and right lanes by a quick horizontal flick on the phone screens, but well always be moving forwards. Now if we make any error in doing all this or land up dashing into a train or a wooden obstacle the policeman and his dog who are running behind us will come closer. A second bad swipe and its over, the policeman will catch us and we will have to begin from the starting point again.
Power-ups:
There are two kinds of power-ups in this game, the first type are those that we pick up during our run, the second type are those that we can use when we want to. Type 1 has-
1) Magnet.
2) Jet Pack.
3) 2X Multiplier.
4)Super Sneaker.
1) Magnet- It helps attract all the coins that are near us. Thus we dont have to worry about collecting the coins at least till the time the Magnet power-up does not end.
2) Jet Pack- This power-up also helps us to collect coins. The difference between Magnet and Jet Pack is that this power-up launches us away above the tracks, taking us into a mad dash to grab coins.
3) 2X Multiplier- This is a temporary boost that doubles our score.
4) Super Sneaker- This power-up helps us to take long jumps. With the help of this power-up we can jump above the trains or tunnels.
We can upgrade these power-ups from the shop with the help of our collected coins, to make them last longer.
Type 2 power-ups has-
1) Hoverboards.
2) Mega Head Starts.
3) Score boosters.
1) Hoverboard- The hoverboard can be used by double-tapping, this makes us invincible for a short period of time. Even we dash into a train or a barrier we can continue our run with no harm.
2) Mega Head Starts- This power-up can be used once at the start of the run. This one just like Jet Pack launches us above the tracks and gives us a lead, without coins though.
3) Score Booster- This one just like the mega head start can be used once at the start of the run. It helps to increase our score 5 times for the entire run.
Mission and Daily Challenges:
Missions-Subway Surfers use an incentive-based mission sets for progression. Each mission set has three very challenging missions for ex: collect 800 coins in one run, jump 100 tines etc. On completion of each mission set we get a Super Mystery Box. The missions which cannot be accomplished can be bought in the shop, with the coins that we collect during the runs.
Daily Challenge- In this challenge we have to find and collect the letters of the days word. On completion of this challenge also we get a Super Mystery Box.
Mystery Box and Super Mystery Box:
The Mystery boxes are picked up during the run, while the super mystery boxes are awarded at the end completion of Missions and Daily Challenges. These boxes have gifts in store like extra coins, trophies, character tokens, score boosters, mega head starts or hover boards.
Characters and Character Tokens:
There are many characters in the game each unlocked in different ways. We start our game with the character called Jack. Later by collecting character tokens from Mystery and Super Mystery boxes we unlock the other characters. For example we can unlock Tricky by collecting her hats, fresh by collecting his radios, Yutani by collecting his UFOs and spike by collecting guitars. The others can be unlocked by paying coins.
Keys:
Keys play a vital role when we are caught by the policeman or if we dash into a train or barriers, here are run could end and we have to begin from the start but keys serves as a continuation for the runs. By giving a key we can continue our run.
Overall:
This game isnt innovative or the first one of its kind but its fun to play. Though we need a lot of patients to play it, yet its enjoyable. I find it hard not to appreciate subway surfers. A must try game for people who have not tried playing it. I love to play it and m sure you will also.
