I visited Subways Delhi outlet some time back and found it quite good. But then I wasnt paying for the meal, it was a treat given by friends. I had an Italian BMT and a bit of the turkey Swich and found it quite OK.
Which is why a closer look at the rates when I visited the outlet at Bandra really got me thinking: The subs are really priced very steep.
its steep even compared to Macs. For a just 6 inch non veg sub at Subway you pay close to 80 bucks while a Subway meal is about 120 bucks. You can get a non-veg value meal at Macs for about 50 bucks. Well thats the only not -so-good part The restaurant itself is very clean and well maintained.
Its self service so you need to look at the menu thats displayed over the counter or ask for a menu that you can pick your sandwich.
I went in the afternoon when it was practically empty . there was no one at the counter so cant say anything about slow service. The staff had plenty of time on their hands.
The breads are really fresh, I especially recommend the parmesan oregano bread. its quite yummy. its youre health conscious you should go for the wholewheat bread. well, once you pick your bread you go through picking the other stuff you want with your sandwich like cheese, mayonnaise, olives, vinegar etc or you leave it to the guy at the counter to make your sandwich. its wrapped up and all ready for you to eat.
Forget about it being fat free if youre going to ask for cheese and mayonnaise!!
One major grouse that Ive heard (a lot)is thats its cold. its meant to be and a lot of Indians (including me) are accustomed to hot food. Even Id prefer it if I could have my sub warm, not hot though. But its not a big deal.
would I visit Subway again? Not particularly. I found the sandwiches just about OK - Nothing to rave about. The cost is the main deterring factor to keep from going there as more often. One can get a really good meal fr abt 100 bucks at a restaurant instead of just a 6 inch non veg sandwich at Subway.
