The CET (Common Entrance Test) is the entrance test for the two-year full-time Master of Management Studies (MMS)/ Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes conducted more than 80 institutes affiliated to nine Universities in the state of Maharashtra, including the Universities of Mumbai and Pune.
The CET is of 2 and 1/2 hrs duration with 200 questions spread over different areas, viz. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, and Visual Reasoning.A Group Discussion & a Personal Interview follow the test.
A consolidated statement of marks is then disclosed and the admission takes place in a centralized manner.

- What chances do outside Maharashtra candidates have in CET. Does merit seat mean free seat, and what is the approximate difference between free seat and payment seat?
Merit/Free seats have a fee of Rs. 8000 in Mumbai University and Rs. 5000 elsewhere. Payment seats have a fee of Rs. 24000 in Mumbai University and Rs. 15000 elsewhere. There are 10% seats reserved in every institute for Outside Maharashtra students. There are 42 seats totally for outside Maharashtra students in the top 6 institutes of Mumbai.
- What is the amount to be taken for the CET counselling am from Mumbai University quota...do I have to take 2 DDs for the free as well as the payment seat......what should be the amt....
If you want admission only in Mumbai University Institutes, then you should carry two demand drafts; 8000 and 16000 in favour of, Director, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, Mumbai. If you are looking at a seat in an institute outside Mumbai also, then you should carry 4 demand drafts of the amounts 1000, 3000, 5000, 15000.
- Which are the 10 institutes for the MMS program in MAHARASTRA?
The top ten institutes for MMS in Maharashtra are Bajaj, Sydenham, Somaiya, Welingkar, Pumba(pune), Chetana, MET, Lala, Dalmia and SIES..
- I have done my 10th and 12th from outside Maharashtra but however I will be completing my engineering from a college in Nagpur. Under such circumstances will I be categorized as a outside Maharashtra candidate or inside Maharashtra candidate.
As per the rules laid down by DTE, since you have passed your qualifying examination from Maharashtra and not your HSC, therefore your Domicile is Outside Maharashtra and your Home University is where you clear your qualifying examination from. Thus, you are eligible for the PAYMENT seats in your Home University i.e. Nagpur and the payment seats reserved for Nagpurstudents in other Universities in Maharashtra.You would mention Domicile as Other Than Maharashtra in the CET form andHome University as Nagpur.

- I am a resident of Delhi. I have done my B.E. from Amravati University. Do I come under :
a) Maharashtra student for other university category.
Or
b) Outside Maharashtra student category.

One seat per Institution in Merit Seat Category is reserved for sons and daughters of migrants from Jammu & Kashmir (Jand K) valley and Defence and Civil Service Personnel presently posted in Jammu & Kashmir (Jand K) valley and engaged in fighting against terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir (J and K) valley. These seats are over and above the sanctioned intake capacity for the Institutions. Admissions against these seats are covered under CAP (Centralized Admission Process).
