4 reasons to NOT practice from past JEE papers

January is when I started practicing from past JEE papers when I was a preparing for JEE. To think back, it was not the best approach.

Here are the main reasons why you should not do the past year’s IIT JEE papers. Read on to know what you should do instead:

Easy Questions:

Believe it or not, but past year’s JEE questions are now deemed easy. Questions which appeared for the first time in 1990 have standard formulae now and you have practiced hundreds of such questions already. Practicing those questions will not prepare you for JEE 2014.

Question Format:

JEE 2014 does not have subjective questions. So why practice them? You have limited practice time and you will only get one chance at cracking JEE. Be smart and focus on the question format that you are going to find in JEE 2014.

Time Format:

Time format of the test has also changed over time. You will not get 3 tests of 2 hours each(JEE 2004 format). If you do past year papers with their timer, you are practicing a wrong test format. Don’t do that. Practice for what you will be getting in JEE 2014.

No Comparison With Others:

Did you do 18 out of 20 questions in 2009 JEE paper? 15 of them correct? How did the other people perform? Don’t know? Well it is a big problem! On the day of JEE 2014, it will not matter how you did. What will matter is how you did compared to everyone else. You will not be able to know this while doing past JEE papers at home.

So, do I not practice past JEE papers then?

You do. You still need to practice the past JEE questions but in the format that you will get in JEE 2014. More importantly, you want to know how you compare against students all over India. The team at Coach Pal thought a lot about these challenges and came up with a good solution.

They currently run a test series with all questions from the past JEE papers converted into an objective format. The questions are jumbled to give you the same difficulty level as JEE 2014. Add to that the fact that when you take the test series, you compare against students all across India, or your real competition.

That is what you need to prepare well. And, that is what you get with the Coach Pal( http://www.coachpal.me) Test Series!
