Ok, Ill just write reviews! to let you all know about various products... after a long gap...
Sucker Punch, getting -ve reviews all around the world, but ask me, I enjoyed. Watched yesterday, preferred it over The Eagle, and it paid. Yes, no story, somewhat blackish, and feel hard to understand, actually whats going on, but didnt Zack Snyder, filmed "300" too in the blacks, and that I just loved. The best movie Ive ever seen, and which uses the artistic special effects and the slow motion effectively and wonderfully (Remember Leonidas and his men fight against Xerxis army). But here he used that black more, and that slow motion more and more, to some it looks WOW! but for some, they liked story first.
The movie started wonderfully, no dialogues, just a background score (the song "Army of Me"), nice tune but someone was getting thrashed, that is Emily Browning, and she is tormented by her stepfather, and in turn, by mistake she killed her younger sister. She was sent to a mental asylum, where, someone named Blue (Oscar Isaac), paid heavily just to prevent the girl from escaping there. A doctor named Vera (Carla Gugino) created a world of mind in the minds of her patients, where they all co-existed in a brothel, and have to perform dances and provide enjoyment to their heavy-paid clients. Nicknamed Babydoll (the same Emily) found 4 friends, Amber (Jamie Chung), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), Rocket (Jena Malone), and Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish). But Babydoll, wants to escape, so she have to dance, and while dancing she recreates another dreamworld, where they all have to fight some bad persons, and should get all the necessary things, so that they can ran from the asylum.
Hmm, a bit of Inception there, but not only that, theres a bit of Japanese demons, a bit of German War movies, a bit of Lord of the Rings, a bit of Dragons, a bit of Robos and new Machines, which is blended in one using dark artistic special effects and slow-motion fighting. No story, though, and a bit confusing. Inception was easy. The movie supported beautifully by wonderful background score, Remember Tyler Bates (300 fame), here presented a more high beats, more loud music. Good tracks are "Army of Me", "White Rabbit", and "I want it all/We Will Rock You", which are the life of film. The film has a characteristic mark of Zack Snyder, whose only good film is 300. But I think, the thought behind the story is good, but missed while writing the screenplay, where Steve Shibuya supported Zack. Cinematography by Larry Fong was just wonderful. William Hoys editing looks a bit heavy and slow at the end, it can be edited more. All the girls are normal, no great acting, but Oscar did his role well, he was the only great looking actor in the movie, alongwith Scott Glenn, who was having a mysterious role. Characterisation is weak, but the special effects are good. Worth Watching scenes-:
Starting scene, of Emilys suffering, and the background score
Her first dance, where in dream she beats some great Japanese demons
All scenes of special effect fighting - war against Germans, fighting the dragon, or slaying the robo machines.
Oh! I forgot, the dialogues are good, one example "If you dont stand for something, youll fall for anything" and "Its you, who have all the weapons".
Watch once, since special effects looks special only on big screen, and if you liked 300.
