I often visit Sulekha for locating items such as small furniture or a special coaching class etc. I usually write feedback/review in case I contact any sellers through them.
Once I post my review I get a message saying that it will be moderated and then published. So far I never bothered checking the status(es) of any of my reviews. But couple of days back I had a bad experience with a seller and hence posted my feedback.
When I checked the history of my reviews, it showed only 2 reviews next to my name. I am quiet sure that I had done over 10 reviews so far. On checking further, I found that they approved only the 2 reviews as I had given positive feedback.
As an experiment I did 1 more review on a seller who is one of the best and guess what, it got approved in minutes. They actually encourage us to write positive reviews to help our friends. This obviously means that they either get paid by the seller forehand not to publish any bad reviews or probably extort money out of the seller if they get complaints.
Either ways it is shady to see only positive reviews on Sulekha. If you actually look harder (you need to be patient and spend lot of time), you will find that people have actually posted reviews such as "They have called XYZ seller and the response was fast and they will be visiting the seller facility and hence it deserves a good star rating."
Now reading further comments here, I am positive that Sulekha is a scam heaven.
