Take SUN Direct-Invite Trouble

I was a Happy customer of TATA SKY from Ahmedabad.  Upon seeing ads about SUN Direct, that it gives some extra Telugu Channels, I have opted for SUN Direct. On 18th Sep, 2008, I have taken a Sun Direct Connection.  The Trouble started from this day onwards.




  1. The Boys who have came to install the Dish and Set top box were absolute illiterates on the subject. They did not know how to connect the dish to Set top box and Set top box to TV.




  2. They gave me a form to fillup (customer details).  They had absolutely no idea, what this form is for.






3.After struggling and upon my direction, they were able to connect the STB to TV.




  1. They left saying that the connection will be activated in 48 hours time and asked me to get in touch with Dealer.




  2. I have selected Basic package + Telugu Regional pack in information sheet




  3. The Connection did activte with in time, but I was not getting the channels promised in basic package like Star Plus, Zee TV, and Regional Channels like ETV, Maa TV etc., .




  4. Upon checking with Dealer, they said that I need to keep keep the desired channel ’on’ for some time and automatically it will get started.  I did so almost for half a day.  The Channels never came up.




  5. I have called up the help line of Sun Direct.  They are horrible with their English speaking skills.






They hardly formed a correct sentence in english all through the conversation.  Those executives have advised me to keep my TV and STB on for some time and automatically the channels start.  I did as per their instruction, but the channels never got activated.


9.I called up the dealer and spoke about the problem.  They say that its really difficult to get any help from Sun Direct company and still they will try and solve the problem.




  1. The help line executives do not have any facility to record any complaint.  Upon probing I came to know that they all pass on complaints orally to seniors or other departments.  This being the case, each time we call up the help line, we need to give the entire history again and again only  to hear a pre-framed solution, ’ Keep your STB and TV ’on’ for sometime and you will get all your channels’.  Beyond this they do not know any thing and they simple apologise for this.




11.Infact the dealer has mailed to sun direct on the email ’Sudha.Gupta@sundirect.in’ with all the details.  The email recepient did not have courtesy to at least acknowledge the mail.




  1. Today after 10 days of followup and wasting precious time and money on phone calls, I have not yet got the mentioned channels activated.




I am totally unhappy about the decison I have made in choosing SUN Direct.


Firends be aware of the customer service that SUN Direct provides to its customers.


You will never come to know what to do if there was any problem with the service.


Do not invite trouble by taking SUN Direct service.
