Sun Direct - Pathetic Service

The main reason for me to go for sundirect is because, they had options for monthly recharge of sports channel. Hence I thought it would be easy to swap between sports channels according to the season. Big mistake!!!


I have now missed the first two grand prix due to their pathetic service and in the verge of missing the third one as well. These are some of the actual responses I got from Sun Direct’s customer care & supervisors.


Instance 1:


Me: Mam, your Toll free number doesnt seem to work at all, I have been trying it for more than an hour now but couldnt reach you.


Customer care: What is a ’Toll Free’ no?


Instance 2:


Me: Mam, I have bought an extra sun direct recharge voucher mistakenly but wouldn’t be using it until next year. Is there any validity attached to it or can I use it later?


Customer Care: We are here only to recharge, we dont have answers for these questions


Me: Then can you please refer me to the concerned person?


Customer Care: I don’t know


Instance 3:


(This is to the supervisor)


Me: I have been trying to contact customer care for recharging, but the line seems to be down


Supervisor: It is your mistake to call them now, all the customers are calling at the same time - we can’t help it.


Me: How about increasing the line capacity?


Supervisor: No, we cant help it. If it is so important to watch tv, then it is your responsibility to judge which would be the right time to call customer care.


Me(Frustrated): I guess you need to take lessons in customer service


Supervisor: We are masters in it!!


I then tried their online recharge option!! but alas it exists only for name sake. The complain we raise through their website is also of no use as there is no response to it.


These guys do their software upgrades on a sunday, that too during day time!!! So for any service related issues(including recharging) during this time is completely ruled out.


Being stressed the whole week in office, it is rather stupid to depend on sun direct for some relaxation during the weekend.


There is no excalation path. The only way to contact them is through 18002007575/ 39407575 and these numbers are jammed most of the time (i tried nos for all states given in their brochure for recharging- no use) or even the ppl on the other side picking the call is not competent enough to answer queries.


The 499/999 recharge actually works out to be costlier than the monthly recharge of 75/-. Most of us don’t notice this. I realised this only after buying the 999/- recharge, but probably the extra cost is associated for beneffiting by not undergoing the trauma of calling customer care every month.


Very very un-satisfied.
