I wanted to purchase a Honda city, there are only two dealers in Chennai for honda sundaram and capital. For stupid reasons that I can not state here I chose Capital first.
I wanted to do something related to the car on 1st of Dec as this is my Late dad’s bday. So I checked and test drove a city in capital two weeks before 1st of dec and told the sales guy that I would take a city next month and I would pay the cash on 1st of Dec as this was a special day for me, I did this since I didnt want to try to get a delivery on 1st dec( this is a very small window and there could be goof ups which would spoil the day) since payment was from my side I could do it on 1st without a problem. But the sales guy insisted that I would be able to get a delivery on 1st dec and not later at any cost if I payed by the next weekend at the latest.
I asked him again and again and he confirmed this and I payed 10k as advance for a GXI of a particular color (with the service charge which another gentlemen has complained about on MS but I think this happens with all agencies so I dont know if I want to complain against sundaram). Well I went the next weekend one week before the delivery , with a huge bag of cash as I didnt want to pay by cheque and delay the delivery, got blessings from my mom, got two excited frnds to come with me as well, I did all this after confirming numerous times through fone that the color and car would be available on 1st of Dec and that I was comming in to pay. Guess wat? the salesman slowly waks upto me after making a number of cell calls and says "sir can you pls take a exi instead of a gxi of the same color".
I was shattered he also offered leather seats on the exi and some mumbo jumbo abt honda producing only a particular color every week. any way I blasted the whole agency as you could imagine and left fumming. The only option left for me was to go to sundaram. well I was directed unofficaly to sundram as well... I met the sales guy from sundram on a sunday and told him about the problem and that I had the cash and that the finance could be transfered, the guy worked his heart out and got me the color that I wanted and the way it was delivered on 1st dec was superb with a box of chocs and each function of the car explained beutifully. I had complete satisfaction with Sundaram. Though I reserve my right to comment on the service station later when I take my car for 1st service. but the overall effort and work put up by both honda agencies capital and sundaram to stop a customer from being disgruntled was really great even though some of this was quite unofficial and disheartening for quite some time.
