Sunderban.....The quite wildlife

Sunderban is a very quite and peaceful wild life forest reserve. The destination is very much different from other tourist places. It’s like a floating island on river. It’s a place where we could physically see a delta, an estuary and a mangrove forest. We visited Sunderban in March last year. Its about 5 hours journey from Kolkata, 3 hours on bus and 2 hours on boat after that. The boat journey was so relaxing......as far as you can see ....you can see water and greenery and some wild animals like deer and monkeys. Let me specify NO TIGER one can see in Sunderban. The forest is like floating islands completely fenced by trees so tiger must be seeing you from inside but you can not see a tiger. I think I am being judgmental....but that’s the fact. In the tiger reserve there is a wild life museum displaying different kinds of floras and faunas. There are couple of watch towers from where you might trace some wild animals drinking water from water ponds. We stayed in Sunderban tiger camp, a luxury private resort in the heart of Sunderban. They also organized the boat cruise for us inside sunderban. They used to host various entertainment programs by local tribal. The food, service comfort exceeded my expectations. The guide who accompanied us throughout our journey was a very nice person. He was involved in poaching of tiger earlier and killed more than 25 tigers when he was young. He was caught by West Bengal Govt. He requested the Govt. to give him mercy and he is utilizing his knowledge and skills in preserving the wild life of Sunderban. Though we could not see a single tiger there, but no regrets. But tigers are present in Sunderban, because till date tigers hunt human beings in Sunderban....as per local dailies.
