My son who recently visited Dmart brought me a free sample of sundrop peanut butter and asked me if it was healthy, he said- " papa, iski ingredient list examine karo aur bolo ki yeh healthy hai kya".

The first thing I would look for is transfats .and they were 0, that was very good as most peanut butters in the market have some amount of trans fatty acids which as also known as stubborn or killer fats .
The next thing I was looking on the label was the presence of any sweeteners, which wasnt the best news as it had 2 of them - refined sugar and honey.but then honey also has many useful properties and that negated the presence of the extra sweetness a bit .
Honey is not just empty calories like sugar but has medicinal properties which mainly includes being anti allergic in nature. It is also gm per gm sweeter than sugar and is lower on the glycemic scale . Not to forget that it has a few traces of minerals .
Its also lesser processed than sugar which means lesser chemical residues .
The peanut butter has some heart healthy fats mainly poly and mono and very little of saturated fats that should be anyways limited .
Next I had to taste the stuff and tell my son how I felt . I took about half a spoonful while he shared the other half. I was amazed at the very pleasing taste . It was by far the best peanut butter I had tasted ever and I mean ever .
It was creamy n it was crunchy .The sweetness was a little overdone as expected . The sample was over within minutes and I immediately ordered a bigger jar of 462 gms off amazon India which would be arriving here very soon . Luckily amazon was also running a lightening deal on it and I bagged it for just 235 INR instead of the MRP of 250.
Let me also inform my readers, that peanut butter is also a very good source of proteins and dietary fiber and some carbohydrates . Its also a very good source of 2 minerals Potassium and magnesium which is also known as the relaxation mineral . Proteins and healthy fats not only rev up the metabolism but also are very high on the satiety index or the ability to keep you feeling full for long .
Though peanut butters are also very calorie dense but still have a very high satiety index which means that even a small amount will keep you feeling full for a very very long time .
peanut butters can be used as an aid in weight loss but only if no sweetener is added which unfortunately isnt the case here .
I still feel if its used in moderation this will keep the hunger pangs and binges away for quite a while . FYI peanuts are not nuts but legumes and many people especially kids are allergic to peanuts, Peanut allergy is by far the most common food allergy .
peanuts tend to grow among molds in the earth and that is the allergen .
In many schools in the US, any peanut butters are actually banned .
Peanut butters are also high in omega 6s, which are inflammatory and not omega 3s which are better fats . But all in all its still a very useful product and I see many repeat orders of the sundrop peanut butter in the future . Both my son and me simply loved it .
Im turning a vegan and that is a very good news for me that im not going to miss butter after all . I have already given up on cows milk butter, cheese and even paneer .
I see many health benefits in turning a Vegan which I wont talk about in this review . But many like me who go off all dairy love to use peanut butter and almond milk as alternatives .
pls note a vegan is a person who does not consume any animal product which includes dairy .when buying peanut butter look for products low on vegetable oils, zero transfats or hydrogenated fats and very low sweetness through refined sugar .
