Yes thats the new slogan for Sunsilks new aggressive campaign.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Has it ever occurred to you that you have a very important meeting/date in a very short notice? You have dress correct, face all brightened and flushed. But wait...what the...BAD HAIR DAY!!!
I feel so awful when I use my comb from left to right, then right to left...oh no no, not quite good...go through the routine again...Chee!...(they just wont set).
Surely hair is such an important aspect that enhances the face value (wonder if I have any, though). Imagine Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya, Catherine Zeta Jones and the likes without hair...yucks! As a matter of fact I didnt like bald Demi Moore. She looked better in Ghost with short hair - BUT NOT BALD!!!
And yet my greatest cause of worry is HAIR. I seem to be loosing them, kinda heredity (what a reason, cant even prevent it), and then snowfall in summer - Dandruff (what else). This has suddenly made me conscious about hair care, and this review is about washing them.
So which shampoo do I use? SUNSILK.
Now dont men use shampoos? Why then does shampoo segment (barring Panteene and Clinic All Clear) seem to favour only the fairer sex? Cause most men get bald (like me), others prefer military cut or punk style and may not find much use of shampoo as compared to girls. Ok Ok...I understand. So what if Sunsilk is positioned as beauty product for women, I still use it....no misunderstandings please!!! (sic)
I have known Sunsilk brand ever since I first came across the word shampoo. I have seen it change bottles, shapes and caps, transparently clear shampoos and the opaque shiny viscous composition of shampoo + conditioner. (Sunsilk was the first in India to feature a shampoo with conditioner....so claims Hindustan Lever Ltd., who markets the product)
I have hair that is thin and dry type. It does look silky(at least those that are still there!)
I came across an ad on TV about a Fruitamin shampoo that featured a girl with nice bouncy hair and a background jingle going, Fruitamins...uppar niche, ghane ghane bhare bhare. This was a shampoo for thin hair. This one was for me.
Fruitamins: Fruit + Vitamins shampoo is meant for anyone whose hair look flat and lifeless and those with thin short hair. It has fruit extracts from green apples, papaya (I dont know exactly but prime guess is alpha-hydroxy acids) besides the normal shampoo ingredients and GHTC (conditioner). The shampoo claims to give volume and bounce to such lifeless hair.
Surely after using this, my hair looked all puffed up raising my height from 57 to 58. My girlfriend looked at me and asked with a surprising gleam in her eye, Hey! Your dont look so chappu anymore, whats up?. Hair, I replied (sic!)
Silky strength:This comes in light pink colour and is meant for dry and brittle hair. Elida Hair Institute has used Lotus flower extracts to provide gentle conditioning and moisturizing effect, strengthening the hair from its root level.
Egg Shampoo:Another variant which my grandmother detests. This one looks like egg is beaten and then poured to fill shampoo bottle. This yellow coloured shampoo is for normal hair. Havent used it much though.
Silky shine Shampoo:I would prefer this one over the egg shampoo. This one is also popularly known as Sunsilk Black Shampoo which is not so much for normal hair. Rather it is aimed for dull hair that looses its shine due to exposure to dust, sweat and environment. It has sunflower extracts to make dull hair look black and shiny. If you see its advertisement about a boy being blinded due to suns reflection from a girls hair, youll know what hyperbole means.
Anti-dandruff:This variant is surprisingly unheard of with shampoos like Clinic All Clear and Head and Shoulders being specifically positioned for this niche, and are also heavily advertised. But I personally assure you that this unsung shampoo with citrus and jojoba extracts is effective not just in dandruff removal but also in preventing its occurrence. I use it once a week.
Natural nourishment:My mother helps me in my fight against hair loss by dipping my head in oil well. Wow! I look like Bihari bhaiyya or with middle partition like Bengali bangdu. But hey! I just cant slish-slosh my way to office the next day. The solution? Actually any shampoo would remove the oil but effective one is Sunsilk natural nourishment with green tea extracts. It is positioned for oily hair, so people with dull or dry hair should strictly avoid this one.
For long I believed that Sunsilk is Indian brand, but actually its global with Unilever marketing it outside India. It?s a product of Elida Hair Institute in Paris. In India, its available in flat bottles (at least now {June 2002} - the shapes keep changing) of 100 ml at Rs. 35 to Rs. 55, 200ml at Rs. 65 to Rs. 85 and 300 ml at Rs. 105. I have seen some imported ones with Arabic labels that are much bigger (probably will last a year). But lately it is packaged in smart packs that look like plastic bags used to store saline/blood, only more colorful and attractive. Sunsilk satchets priced at Rs. 1.50 to Rs. 2 are also available.
So boys and girls (who have hair on the head i.e.) I would strongly recommend Sunsilk shampoo if you want healthy hair - wash after wash.
