He's back!

Superman’s back.. After a long gap. 6 years for Lois Lane and the people of Metopolis..in the story. But a very long time for a fan like me. Having grown up reading stories of the man of steel, he was a man we all wished we could be.. How cool is it to be able to fly? To be so strong?!!

I was a big fan of the movies too, back then. Christopher Reeve was so perfect for my hero. Today when I watch those, I find them pretty badly made, but back then it was superb.

Ever since I read about the new Superman movie being made, I have been waiting eagerly. And when it was released, I was so excited. I watched it on the 2nd day itself, with friends who love him just like me. It took me some time to absorb Brandon as the new Superman. He’s so different from the image we had in out minds. But slowly we got used to him and he actually started looking good.

The movie wasn’t all that great, but the scenes were done well. He now flies so real.. thanks to the new generation of CGI. All except the scene where Superman takes Lois for a free flight, was almost flawless. Lex Luthor, the characterization was a little sad, but much better than the ones in the old movies. That guy looked more like a joker then. I still prefer the “Smallville” version of Lex though.

The climax of the movie was a let down if you ask me. They were indeed trying to make Superman more human than an alien. But it was more like a “Kal ho na ho” scene. I would say Sam Raimi did a better job there, when he showed the human side of Spiderman in the 2nd movie.

But overall, it’s a good entertainer, though a bit slow and lengthy. I hope they make more sequels with much better stories and sfx. Am so eagerly waiting for Spiderman 3 now.. the trailor is awwww…some.
