Surajkund is a lake place place in Faridabad district of Haryana, situated in the proximity of Delhi., where this craft mela is being organized from 1st to 15 February every year for last thirty years. Now it has gained the status of international mela due to participation of more than 15 foreign countries. It is basically a craft mela, where artisan and folk artist from all states of India as well as foreign countries participate and showcases their unique richness, heritage crafts and diversity of the handicrafts. This has become the largest craft fair in the world.
This mela is organized in very natural ambiance, all where threes and huts showing the image of rural India. Mela place is itself a forest zone of Aravali Hill. It has become so popular that more than 10 lakh people visit the fair. While in mela you will feel the jungle environment. You may taste the food as well as cultural activities of different states.
Its environment is so natural and attractive. It is easily accessible from different part of the country, Delhi and nearby areas. You will not be satisfied in one day visit. I have been visiting this mela for last three years. This mela is worth visiting to know the rural folk of India.
