I was at surjivan Farm at the invite of a friend and liked the curious mix of modernity (hot water in bathrooms, prompt and courteous service) and countryside(thatched huts, freshly baked chapatis on wood-fire, organic produce, zero-city sound).
The interesting part for a nature lover is the carefully cultivated natural surroundings with rare species of plants collected from all over India, like the kalpa-taru, sanjeevani booti, pigmented bamboo etc. I was reminded of the saying that Nature creates jungles but it is only man who can creaate gardens. Looks like this place was created out of a deep passion and the tourism part was a mere spillover, not the original motive.
The icing on the cake is that they had on-board a Tarot card Reader and fortune teller. I believe she has a special arrangement with the farm and only comes on request. I started my Tarot card reading with skepticism and doubt but got up from the reading a deeply convinced person since she was uncannily accurate. The session helped me take some crucial decisions since I wanted to get an idea about the possible outcomes of various alternatives I chose. She also alerted me about a health concern which I am now taking care of. not only this she peeped into my subconscious and gave me clarity about my friends and, enemies
Overall, I must say this place offers a unique package of rest, recuperation and regeneration, so close to Delhi. A great place for winter weekends.
