As this is the third series of SURVIVOR that I have become addicted to I am just going to have to come out of the closet and admit that YES, I WATCH SURVIVOR.
When it first started I showed minimal interest initially, before I knew it I was hooked. The show was fascinating, seeing how those people coped with the stress and strains put on them was like watching some strange experiment. It became compulsive viewing, I even found myself missing it when it finished.
The second series started and I thought, hey, no need to watch this again, seen one seen them all. Well, what happened. Before I knew it I was hooked again. This one was even more gripping then the last. I was like an addict getting another fix!
When the promos for the third series started appearing I found the excitement starting to build.I am now fully caught up in this series and my challenge is to not find out who has won before the final show. This isnt easy as the show is screened about 2 weeks behind in New Zealand. It spoils the whole thing when you know who has won before the end.
THE SHOW
The Settings...
So far we have had three SURVIVOR shows. The first was set on an deserted island in the South China Sea, the second in the bush of the Australian Outback and the third is in the African Savanah.
16 people are dropped into an isolated part of the planet, given minimal food and shelter and have to live off their wits for about a month. They are split into two teams and have to compete with each other for REWARDS and IMMUNITY.
REWARDS... this can be food, shelter or something along those lines.
IMMUNITY... this is the biggy. This means that you are safe from being voted out.
Slowly the numbers dwindle as every 3 days someone must be voted off. Eventually you are down to the last 8 people and the two teams MERGE, become one. This is where it becomes interesting as the team members have formed bonds and alliances with each other.
As the game unfolds human nature comes to the fore, everyone is suspicious of everyone else and the best and the worst in human nature comes out. These people depend on each other for survival in more ways than one. They need to get through the daily hardships of finding food, water and shelter as well as maintaining relationships with their team mates so they wont get voted off.
The game ends with the last two SURVIVING contestants face the final vote from everyone in the MERGED team.
It all makes fascinating and compulsive viewing and yes, I have to admit...I LOVE IT!
