Old review - Hi This is Rajesh from Chennai. I am planning to buy 150cc bike. Initially I had decided to buy honda unicorn. But since it is not available in the market, even the upgraded version of that(dazzler) has sporty look, have to wait for 3 months and has some cons like no kick start, half chain cover, etc., now I consider to buy Suzuki GS 150r. I read many positive reviews about this bike in the net. But I would like to know about the service provided by suzuki and availability of spares in the market. Now I own hero honda passion. For this, I get spare parts even in the local automobile shops. Also I have not seen this bike on the road in Chennai.
Can anyone tell me how is the service and availability of spares for GS 150r? Can I buy this bike?
Updates - Though they had told me 10 days for delivery, I got a call from them within five days saying that load has come and I can take the bike right away. But I waited for an auspicious day and took bike on Wednesday. I got a free insurance worth around 1300 rupees. They fitted all extra accessories in front of me. When I rode it for the first time, I could feel that I am sitting on a giant machine. The height is really more than my previous bike. Before this, I was using hero Honda passion. In front of this bike, passion looks very small. The riding was very comfortable and even in bumps and pits I felt comfortable . I could ride in 40 to 45 kmph even in top gear(6th). I did not cross 50 kmph since the bike is in breaking period. They advised me to restrict speed till second service.
I haven’t checked the mileage yet. Horn is powerful. Engine is smooth. Shifting gear is very smooth. Morning I had hard time to start the bike. After trying kick and self several times only it started. After that I did not face starting problem. I didn’t use choke to start.
When I was on the way to office, many of the riders were looking at my bike as it is very rare to see this on road. I asked showroom people why it seems very less numbers on road. They said that people do not aware about Suzuki bikes. Moreover I personally feel that this is a commuter kind but nowadays even a middle aged person prefers race kind, less weight bikes and chose what everybody buys.
They are providing 15 services in that 6 are free. Please note that I have just converted from 100cc to 150 cc, so most of the points I have mentioned here would be common for 150 cc bike users in terms of comfort, height, weight etc., I will update my review after second service.
