After a lot of research of 4 months on 150 cc Bikes, I purchased a Suzuki GS150R on 27th July. This is my fourth Bike (completed 2050Kms) after Victor (3rd), Street 100 (2nd), and Rajdoot (1st).
I don’t like PULSAR for its riding quality (it is hard to turn and tiring ride), poor disk brake, roaring engine sound and vibration; APACHE for tiny looks and leaned seating posture (which many called sporty position); and F16 for small back seat, smallest head and digital meter. Moreover, all of the above do not give comfortable riding.
I like riding quality of Unicorn and Hunk but both of these lack digital instrumentation. Hunk is poor in mileage. Unicorn looks worst, just like a big PASSION. Also, I don’t like the gear lever of toe shifter alone which is common in all 150cc bikes; toe+heal shifter is comfortable to me. I love GS150R because it has all desired qualities. It is complete vibration free smooth package plus an extra gear with superb digital instrumentation. The Bike is another name of smoothness..........
*Pros
are:*
1.
Best riding quality and seating
posture.
2.
No vibration, due to Engine balancer technology. This
technology comes in GS and R15 only.
3.
Massive looks, broader seat.
*4.
Best mileage
(I got 48-58 Kmpl since in Varanasi roads are filled with rush).
5.
Best digital instrumentation in all
bikes (60-250cc). The digital meter has *Gear
indicator, *2 trip meters, clock, and an LED indicator to change the gear upside.
6.
Economy and power mode which makes
change in bike performance and mileage.
7.
Gear lever. It is toe+high heal shifter,
designed cleverly to avoid use of heal, i.e.,
U have to raise your heals for gear shift.
8.
Highest torque in the class.
9.
Excellent smooth shock absorbers.
10.
Butter smooth.... Smooth gear shift and ride.
11.
Bike is very Stable, rock solid at all speeds and cornering of 45oC at speed of 65+.
12.
6th
gear
* which is in GS and R15 only.
*13.
*On
stand at main stand this bike shows ~**150
Kmph **upon full accelator. Peoples doubt abt realibity of this bike. Believe on Suzuki. It is one of the top automobile companies. Its technology and engineering is ultimate. The Bike is design beautifully. When U will observe it closely, U will find its beauty. It’s each part as well as instruments are engineered carefully, like the front shock absorber has a metal lining, head has a black plastic structure beneath, engine design gives its massive monster look, gear leaver, the tail light and many more things.
It runs like car, U will not feel any vibration (better than Unicorn). On my first day, I sudden increased the engine speed to 5000 rpm (can give 67kmph speed), and after looking on tachometer I slow down. It is large and massive but rock solid. U have to just keep your hands only. Its 150 Kg weight gives U confidence on road of any kind at any speed. Bike is very stable at any speed 5-105 Kmph (I did’t tried to go beyond 105). Bike comes in form when it crosses 40 Kmph. There is no other sound than that of wind. This gives U real pleasure.
The wide but engineered Tank comes ion grip of thighs and at high speed gives a confidence. Shock absorbers are ultimate. U will not feel any jerk, still at bumpy Indian roads with many small potholes. Seating arrangement for Pillion is at height, which is very comfortable, and gives clear view of road. Gear ratio is set to minimise to use of clutch in city driving. At 1st gear U can run the bike at speed of 3 Kmph too without clutch. Gear indicator is a need to run 6 gears. Otherwise U can miss to go on 6th or U will lost in gear number. One day I run bike on 5th gear for more than 5 Kms at speed of 50kmph without realizing that it is not at top gear. But when look at gear indicator, shifted to 6th. All in all, Bike is great than any bike in 150 CC. Now I want to clarify many misunderstanding or other misleading things abt this bike which I have read on many sites/reviews:
1.
The only bad thing I observed was *poor rear brake *which became good after wearing in running-in period. Front disk bites speed quit effectively and progressively so that along with it U have full control on bike.
2.
Weak headlight: Headlight is strong enough and well focused to go anywhere in night. Suzuki is not given a headlight of truck, but for a bike the headlight is more than strong.
*3.
Some sound from engine valves: *I did not hear any such sound from my GS.
4.
Chain slacking: after 100 Kms chain of my bike become tight which resulted in tight gear shift. Mechanic oiled and loosens chain. So there is no problem of chain slacking in my bike so far. And a more or less slacking may arise in any bike.
5.
A little vibration at 3500 rpm. But it does not feel a problem. That much vibration is normal vibration for other bikes.
6.
There is no any rust at all, at least in my bike.
7.
This is not true that this bike is only for tall riders. Its seat height is 790mm from ground which is exactly of Yamaha F16, Apache and others. Most of Bike have seat height between 760-795mm. So, do all these bikes are for tall rider?, definitely not.....
