Updated after Crossing 10500 km (Battery Problem)

Crossed 10500 km:

Comfortable: The riding position is good and we don’t feel any neck or back pain even during long journeys’. I have traveled 150 km at a stretch. Its like travelling in Bullet. I don’t think other 150cc bikes will give you so much comfort.

Handling: Handling inside the traffic is little difficult, but you will get practiced. Initial pick-up is good than other 150cc’s. But fails to go up after gaining speed.

Braking: I’ve fell twice braking front disc. Fortunately I was travelling at 30 km/hr speed in traffic, when pedestrians suddenly crossed the road, braking made to fell. But when travelling at higher speeds(70-75 km/hr) braking front disc is effective, bring the vehicle to complete control. As vehicle is 150 kg, rear brake is only for low speeds. Rear Brake is effective for single rider till 40 km/hr. Crossing 50 km/hr needs both front and rear to be applied simultaneously for best braking.

Mileage: I’ve filled tank full of fuel after drying, total litre goes beyond 17. After complete calculations I got 55 km pl. I mostly traveled at 70-75 km/hr. So the mileage is a decent one.

I too tried mileage at lower speeds, at 45-50 km/hr all through the travel from reserve to reserve, I got mileage of 71 km pl. I’m here quoting the true mileage and not telling lie. But remember to travel at 45-50 km/hr.

Note: These mileage were I got with two modes(ECO & POWER) in OFF condition.

Battery Problem: From day two of purchase my battery had acid leakage problem. I referred many times with showroom, but they said when running frequently the acid level gets reduced and will become normal. But the problem persisted. All my left side painting surfaces of vehicle were corroded. I removed the battery and kept at home above wooden surface. I noticed acid leaking from+ve terminal. All these days acid leaked from terminal and not through overflow vent. Before I could find this, I installed 3 pipe horn. Failing to withstand the required volt of pipe horn, battery failed and charging failed. So I had to replace the battery. Please have a care at battery when it gets leakage. Don’t Care State makes Purchase New Battery. The Exide battery from company comes with 7 amps, But I replaced with Sonic Foundry 9 amps. Now I use pipe horn and no problem till now.

Xtra Note for GS150R’s Engine heat: The engine gets heated quickly even travelling for 2 km. That’s due to Aluminium engine. When travelling long trip, it gets more heated. But at the same time it gets cooled quickly. Use 150 ml extra oil when replacing the engine oil. This will not be done by showroom persons. Mechanics at outside will do this. Doing this will reduce the heat considerably less than before.

When traveled at higher speeds(above 75 or 80 km/hr) don’t switch off the engine after immediate halt, Doing this frequently, will affect engine. After halting, idle the engine for 5-7 min & then switch off the engine.

Have a Happy Riding.

After 4th free service, completed 5500 km.**(OLD review at the bottom)

The fuel blockage problem persisted for me till 4000 km in odometer. Accidentally I tried by running my bike by switching off ECO & POWER modes. Till now there is NO fuel blockage problem that I felt before. Also my mileage is good. I get above 60kmpl in long distant travels & 50-52 kmpl in cities. So I recommend the users of this bike to SWITCH-OFF the two modes(ECO & POWER) and enjoy a problem free ride.

Another information that Service Manger at Erode shared with me: In ECO mode, When riding at the speed of 58 to 60 km/hr, the ECO mode changes to POWER mode. Hence if the engine’s rpm or the fuel suction or other engine functionality mismatches, there comes the fuel blockage and we can experience a jerk in the ride as if fuel is blocking. To avoid such fuel blockages switch-off the two modes(ECO & POWER)

The headlight focus is worst in GS150R. To get good brightness DONT use higher wattage headlamps. If you use high wattage, your dome’s nickel coating will melt. So dont replace the company fitted headlamp. The melting complaint was reported by a customer to the service manager after fitting a high wattage lamp.

I checked the mileage in POWER mode at 50 km/hr & got 35 kmpl. And it was too worse when riding at 80 km/hr in highways and got below 28 kmpl. So dont use the POWER mode.

My friend is having Unicorn Dazzler, and I get a vibration of the engine from it, even when riding at 50km/hr. And there is NO Vibration in GS150R even above 80 km/hr.

There are some more questions to the service personnels from customers about the engine sound(as if piston hitting sound). That sound comes from all GS150R from company. I cross checked nearly 10 bikes from customers who leave their bikes for services.

Have a Happy Riding.

My OLD review:

Hi everyone, I test rode Unicorn, Dazzler, FZ. before GS150R.

Bought the Vehicle: I bought the vehicle from Peak Suzuki, Erode, TamilNadu.

Color: Metallic Flint Grey. I took the vehicle on 21st June 2010.

After 1st Service:

The next day of my 1st service, I traveled a trip of 40 km. Till I reach 50 km/hr there was no problem. I felt the fuel blockage at 30 km/hr and 40 km/hr and 50 km/hr. I reported to the service centre and they said tuning was not correct and they mistakenly adjusted during the 1st service and they again re-tuned the settings. The next day even while driving inside the city in a traffic-less road, I happen to reach 60 km/hr. There was no blockage till I reach 60km/hr, and after that the same problem started. Blockage started at 30 km/hr and 40 km/hr and 50 km/hr. I reported to the service person, he said to leave the vehicle, next day he said there were dusts entering inside & now it was rectified completely with a special dust suction filter & thereafter it wont happen again & we have made such arrangements that dusts wont enter again. My bike is a problem-free vehicle now. I’m completely satisfied about the service personnel at Erode. I’m getting a mileage of 53-56 km-pl. What can we expect more than this in a 150cc bike.

Note: The mileage I got were all in ECO mode. I too tried mileage in POWER mode, but they are very less(Around 40 km pl)

Likes: 6th gear usage gives more mileage. Comfortable sitting position and handlebar. Handling of the vehicle. Front disc is at left side while rear drum is at right side which helps in effective balancing during sudden braking. Dual Modes: ECO and POWER modes. I didn’t run my vehicle in POWER mode till now. I need to check that and definitely I’ll update the mileage and performance after testing in POWER mode. Digital Console, Vivid and informative. Bigger headlight dome with two wolf like city lights. Integrated rear signals along with tail lamp which avoided indicator breaking problem.

Dislikes: The pillion rider seat is like Himalayan height. But once we climbed onto it, we enjoy the ride greater than other bikes.

This bike is suitable for persons enjoying long drive, comfortable rider, mileage seekers.

Have a happy riding.
