Suzuki zeus valve clearance (shouid be done in cold engine) ; inlet : 0.05mm(50 microns)
Exhaust : 0.08mm(80 microns) / carburattor : mikuni vm 18 (visit mikuni web site for correct procedure of carburattor setting !)
(see the bottom of the page to see procedure for milage checking !!)
I purchased the suzuki zeus , after test riding 6 different vehicles:-
I had much apprehension , but iam very confident , and i purchased a zeus on 16.12.2008 from trichy suzuki dealer for rs 53, 000/- all frills attached( mag wheels, disc brake, self etc.the overall performance is better than cast iron based engine bikes
The bike i rode for test (the 25k crossed zeus) can even challenge the much famed bikes of the town like pulsar , apache etc because the dear old zeus can cruise beyond 90km/hr without any strain , rattling. Just go for suzuki zeus , its the best bike in india.(125cc). Best entry class bike according to my review
Caution riding techniques: you must be very carefull while driving the new bike, not crossing the 40km /hr before the break -in period of 1000 kms. Preferably you should have prior good driving skills by having driven different types of bikes; but this is not compulsary, before acquiring the zeus. It has completely high quality aluminium alloy engine. Dont damage the engine during the first 1000 kms.
*just go for the zeus with your eyes closed!!. Check the bike is not misused by the show room people. Take a friend who has best abilities to choose your lovable zeus. - t.sachidanandam
Now my bik has crossed over 1300 kms , had its first service , gives around 70 km, /liter(31.01.2009).
How to perform the milage test?
Purchase a calibrated nylon petrol can which holds 500 ml petrol from a decent spares shop(rs 160/-)
Purchase a 50 ml aluminium oil scoop from utensils shop ( the thing used by your small grocer to measure edible oil)
Remove the left hand side cover by removing the seat and keep it safely at home( the cover which covers the air filter housing and carburettor. You can use the tool kit in the zeus to remove the cover)
Now remove the petrol hose (keep in mind to close the tap in the petrol tank )from carburettor. Use a cutting plier to unhook the safety clip on the petrol hose and keep it on the carburattor inlet metal tube itselt
Fill the 50 ml oil scoop upto the brim , and carefully pour in the petrol can.
Now connect the petrol hose in the carburattor
7.keep in mind ; the engine should be warmer while doing the milage test , so drive the bike for about 3 - 4 kms. After that close the petrol tap now drive the bike till the petrol in the carburettor burnt .
Now the bike gives kicks and gradually stops ( a unique feature in zeus other bikes stop abrupty)
Now connect the calibrated petrol can hose after removing the tube from petrol tank
10 open the tap in the can ( in reserve position)
Now start the bike drive around 40 km /hour , without breaking and harsh acceleration or deceleration
The bike should give around 4kms for 50 ml of petrol , multiply with 20 presto!! You will be astonished!
My bike gives 4.3 km for 50 ml of petrol so more than 80 km /liter of petrol
14 , be careful , select a preferably less congested highway for mileage testing, keep the petrol can at handle bar level ( keep in mind the petrol fed by gravity).
15 . I am very happy to receive questions.
