I have been a diehard fan of Suzuki motorcycles having been one of the early users of Ind-Suzuki. Having used it for more than 20 years, certain loyalty has been developed. Recently when I acquired Suzuki Zeus for my son, it was natural to view it from the perspective of old user. Let me confess, I had mixed feelings.
Zeus did not evoke the same awe in me, which Ind-Suziki evoked. The slim streamlined look was missing. Missing also was the novelty. It did have features which all contemporary bikes had, but nothing more. The riding no doubt was smooth. Electric start feature was missing – an important requirement in Indian road condition with innumerable traffic signals.
The strongest point in this bike is its ability to ride in the fourth gear from 20 kmph onwards. This is positive feature in Indian Roads where traffic conditions are uneven.
Having used it for nearly two months, I wish to spell out quality aspects which need to be looked into by the Boffins at Suzuki.
The front fairing behind front wheel almost gets in contact with speed breakers on the road and gives discomfort while riding.
The main stand (centre stand) appears very weak. In my bike it has twisted and has become unusable. We are now totally dependent on the side stand.
The tool kit is of a poor quality. The tools bear Rust marks. This is not expected from Suzuki brand.
Gear shift indicators seem to have some Intermittency. At times lighting in the first gear and Neutral is absent.
Mileage at times is about 35 kmpl, a performance least expected from a bike of Zeus’s class.
I’d appreciate if these points are addressed as I feel that improving on these features may give Suzuki an upper hand over its rivals in its class of bikes.
