Sooner or later in this nonsense movies churning (Read RGV ki aag, Mela) Bollywood, comes a movie that knocks you off your feet & makes you realize that your living part of where this all is operated upon & you feel proud of yourself just for that. Swades is that kind of a movie which knocks you off your feet & still manages to make you stand & realize your responsibility towards your nation. Yes this is a country which faces its share of problems & utterly unnecessary ethnicity in the name of so called ’rivaaz’. But are we as an individual doing something towards upliftment of the same rather than neglecting it.
That’s what Swades makes you realize & its impact is magnanimous. Scenes where a farmer lies in poverty just because he has changed his profession & still manage to serve his guests with ’atithi devo bhava’ is as touching as they come. Also the ever realisation hit that this profession is what we say as our National occupation. And the small casual teriffic banter over a lunch between Mohan Bhargava & Gita (SRK & Gayatri Joshi perfectly cast) about how our country is run & what needs to be done wil memerize u to no end.
I would go on & on but I would say one thing.
There will be many lists that will show top must watch movie, but if you really want to see one, Spare a time for this, though it might be lengthy. Such a movie comes once in a century or less, go watch it!!!!
