Ashutosh, what were you thinking? This is bollywood. What do you have, 3hr 30 min long reel running for, if you couldn’t make space for a rain dance, karwachout, or a song with half naked dancers swarming all over the hero...
And are you out of your mind....not a single action sequence? It just cost you two outdated jeeps flying in the air...all you could manage was a measly ?kusti?? Your thrifty attitude is posing a serious threat to our box office ....
What movie in bollywood runs with a single heroin and where did you get her from, anyways? I mean, she is all so clad in cotton, head to toe..man u make more movies, you will put Manish Malhotra out of business?
If you were barring all the above, you could have cast just about anybody as Mohan Barghav...u know what I mean? ?Stars? have better things to do, cut them some slack. If you can’t take time to dance at marriages and ?Star? nights, at least spare those who spend quality time, doing just that.... ?going places? at unlikely times...
Man I don’t know how much money of that 30cr you blew on this one, is from your pocket, this is crisis and you are in it till your nose...If anybody can throw a rope to rescue you, its got to be Rehman, otherwise who will pass this movie for a bollywood film.
And Sir ji! have mercy, we’ve just taken time out from falling victim of other Oscar aspirants, trying their luck over LOC and India-Pakistan makeover subjects, that you’ve got, three and half long hours of guilt, self-pity and conscience in one ?Swades bug?, biting us over and over again.
Put your thought to it, did you really need an NRI to do all the preaching? All the brain is not drained. While you were busy striking a cord with the NRI crowd for overseas revenues in dollars and pounds..?we, the rupiah’s? were turning repulsive, tolerating crap from NRI, especially, when he has been away for ....12yrs (hardly could pass him for an NRI, with no American accent)
All the mockery apart, this movie is certainly a cut apart from the mainstream bollywoodish crap. Ash is audacious all over again, with all the new comers and absolutely no nonsense story line. This movie comes across as a desperate, or rather deliberate attempt of Ash, to match his previous hit lagaanwhich he almost did (he is his own competitor) and SRK’s futile attempts to outperform Amir. I personally think Swades - SRK (before you take your calculator out) = better chances of movie doing well/no difference. He has to break through the glass ceiling over his head.
I must say the story would have been absolutely honest if a new comer played Mohan Bhargava with no image, performance expectations (that is usually there while casting established stars) attached to the characters...especially with this kind of subject.
Technicians & production crew has done a decent job. The camera crew did an excellent job, just keeping it simple, gave the film an honest look and kept audience focused on the subject.. Sound though had dialogues echoing every now and then, by far the best was the rocket taking off the launch pad.
This movie is worth seeing for two reasons, one- you have watched enough nonsense, this won’t hurt you. Two-Your dadaji’s chacha’s bhatijhe’s maasi’s beta’s bother’s son’s son could be one of the kids dancing for ?yeh tara voh tara?...could be possible ...its a small world after all.
