Well Iam writing this review very late. But undoubtedly Swades is a masterpiece. All the things in the movie are amazing. The director of the movie has done a very good job. The theme of the movie is really good and thoughtful.
Storyline:
A NASA project manager, Mohan Bhargav (played by Shah Rukh Khan) is an NRI who misses his home nation, India. He decides to come home to find his former nanny, Kaveriamma, (played by Kishori Ballal) and take her back with him to the States. In his quest to find his nanny, Mohan encounters a childhood friend, Gita (played by Gayatri Joshi), who teaches primary school in a rural village in India.
As is usual in romances, they clash initially but eventually fall in love. The film contrasts the high-tech world of NASA in the USA and the colorful world of remote villages in developing India, while at the same time exploring the nature of ’home’. Mohan sees the best of India, as well as the worst: the poverty, the prevailing caste system and lack of education. The course of his life changes when he decides to chip in and do whatever he can for his nation.
Cast Performance:Swades entirely is elevated by the performance of Shahrukh Khan. His expressions during the 25p. water scene is marvellous. I can definitely say this is Shahrukh Khan’s best performance till date(hope that his performance in Chak de India will be as good as Swades). Rest of the cast is also really good.
