My fav film of the year

Me and my friends had gone to a 2 day trek to Alangad(150 km from Pune) and stayed in a village near the base of the mountain before the climb.

We were there for few hours(we had our water bottles filled up, had tea at a local’s home). But when I thought of Swades, it reminded me of all that which is so peaceful as compared to our daily hectic city life.

Now the question for most if us is not whether this is a good film or not(which it definitely is) but is it watchable or not??

The ans is undoubtedly Yes.

There is no tense drama(as in Laagan), no villains, no item numbers. It is a intentioned film to make us realise the plight of India (Real India - the villages) and give a thought abt how even a educated individual can make a difference.

Some good points abt the movie:

#It is a movie giving a social message and has plenty of light and fun moments thrown in it. So atleast it is never taxing to watch.

#The best scene in the movie is the one in which SRK goes to collect the rent from a villager in a remote place and breaks down seeing his plight. Almost immediately the boy selling water at railway station is also a powerful one.

#The chemistry b/w Gayatri and SRK is great.

#The music by AR Rahman is also great. The situations of ’’YEH TARA’’ and Title track are amazing and ’’YUHI CHAALA CHAL’’ is amazingly shot.

#Also SRK is not his usual romantic self you kinda start liking him right from the start. His toned downed performance is relief.

A very well made film which can be watched again and again. A serious message conveyed by a light film.
