Sweekar is a reasonably health- friendly cooking medium which does not give the feeling of ‘being at risk’ which the users of Saffola often suffer from. Sweekar has now become synonymous with a good quality edible oil which is light and healthy, being a smart combination of refined sunflower and soyabean oils.
The slogan of Achcha Khana, hansi khushi ka Khazana has made it one of the leading brands among refined oils in the housewives’ shopping bag. It is high in polyunsaturated fat and is nearly 90% saturated fat free. The advertisement campaign launched by its manufacturers has ensured that people in every walk of life identify themselves with this product. The final cooked product is found eminently acceptable by all family members. However, the use of non stick teflon coated cookware lends an added advantage.
Interestingly, a case has been filed against it in the Consumer Court by the manufacturers of Sundrop, for making allegedly false, misleading and disparaging claims about Sweekar being a low absorb oil.
They have objected to repeated use of the phrase low absorb and seeks to compare it with other refined oils through a so-called kadai test. Special trademark technology, low absorb which ensures less consumption of oil while frying. However, the pack also mentions that low absorption works only under certain conditions. These include controlling the frying temperature, uniform size of the food being fried, level of moisture in the food, frying time, drainage time and the quantity of oil and food taken. If you follow these conditions, all oils become low absorb, industry watchers said, adding there is no such thing as a low-absorb oil and therefore, the so-called kadai test is misleading consumers, claim the competitors.
The Sweekar brand is also available for other oils.
