Phew!!! U get to see very few movies where the director puts all his resources to make the movie as Thrilling and WONDERFUL to the audience. Example: Matrix, Mission Kashmir, Mission Impossible and now Swordfish.
Yes, Swordfish ranks among the very best as far as the action sequences are picturised. It just goes to show how inventive a director is and of course, the deep pockets of the producer(incidentally, this movie is made by the same guy who produced the Matrix).
Director Dominic Sena has delivered a movie thats got a paper-thin script but presented with lotsa masala to give a thorough entertainer. He has nurtured John Travolta’s role so very well on the screen, giving it the elan and charisma that it rightly deserved. Hence, John Travolta towers above all others, giving one of his best performance after Face-Off. Though Halle berry and Hugh Jackman are not so great .
The movie has a very novel beginning, and the screenplay is really good. The whole plot is based on one tactic:MISDIRECTION. U’ll understand this only when u watch the movie. Only problem here is that there is no story to support the screenplay. Its all so confusing that one really wonders what the helll are those nuts doin....!!Blowing up cars, killin people, and roaming around in Armani suits with playbunnies.
Its actually very simple. John Travolta wants to rob money from some DEA(defense establishment), somewhere to the tune of $9 billion.....and wants to do it in a more sophisticated manner.....rather than just looting....inspired by MI, maybe! Hence he calls upon Hugh Jackman, a master hacker who’s now doin some stupid job becos he got thrown into jail for hacking into the FBI’s account. He accepts the deal becos he wants to see his child who got estranged from him after divorce from his wife. His desperation to meet his child is shown in a very superficial manner and the audience does not feel sorry for him at all.
Meanwhile, we come to know, a senator is the one getting the job done thru travolta. Halle Berry acts as a lady sidekick to Travolta and tells Hugh she’s from DEA and is working undercover to get John nabbed. U must have started pondering now....well, wait for the finale..!!!!
Hugh develops a worm(virus)......godknows why! and finally John kills Halle, gets all the money, inspite of Hugh trying to kill him, after another series of blasts, this time in the sky!!!! The finale is brilliantly executed in a bus on the SKY!! And Finalllllly, we come to know that Halle Berry is his partner in crime and they live happily ever after!!!!!!!!
So, here comes to end a movie with lotsa GALLI and action!
