I am new to mouthshut and recently had a chance to go through the opinions expressed by a few about SCMHRD, questioning its status as one of the top B-Schools in India, its administration and even putting a question mark on the very ideology that is the foundation of this institute.My purpose out here is not to react to the statements made about SCMHRD, but I found this site a good platform to express my views about SCMHRD where I happen to be studying in PGDM-I.
SCMHRD started its journey in 1993 and since its inception the kind of growth that this institute has shown would make any other B-School envious.After passing out with an engineering degree in my hand I dreamt of getting into a B-School, the kinds they show in typical Bollywood Blockbuster.But that was not to be, I was to receive the shock of my life when I entered this college.Students had to be on their toes perpetually and I was not used to such rigours in my daily routine.And if one doesn’t learn to cope up with these rigours one is bound to break emotionally and mentally.
No doubt the life in SCMHRD is tough and if one can’t adapt to these pressures, the fault doesn’t lie with the institute. Adding to that a good B-School can never offer a happy-go-lucky kind of life. The life in a good B-School has to be demanding.
Well regarding the Society that runs our institute and many other institutes too I can hardly comment on them and their intentions as we students hardly ever had a chance to interact with them and as such levelling allegations against them and their intentions doesn’t seem to be fair at all. As far as the administration of the college is concerned we have a very tough man at the helm of affairs. He might be a hard-task master but one must not forget that this B-School is the result of his blood and sweat. It is because of his labour that we afford to call ourselves MANAGEMENT STUDENTS.
About the academics, I must admit the fact that this college might not be at par with the institutes like IIM’s and others but you get ample opportunities to hone your skills. The good thing that I found about this institute was that it has mellowed me down in the sense I am no more aggressive, mind you I am still enthusiastic and a go getter. Regarding placements if one is confident about himself and is aware about his preferences, he/she need to worry about a good job and a good organisation.
This place is not for weak-hearted and only those must opt who are internally motivated and want to learn things the tough way.
WORD OF ADVICE:
IF YOU PLAN TO JOIN SCMHRD, PLEASE AND PLEASE DON’T COME WTIH ANY PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS, AS THIS WOULD HELP YOU IN ADJUSTING TO THINGS FASTER.
