Back ground about me – I am software engineer working in UK. As all die hard movie enthusiasts, I love to be a movie critique. The first and previous movie that I had reviewed was Rang De Basanti. Now it invariably turns out that the next movie that I am reviewing is the next Aamir Khan masterpiece after Rang de……………..
Review follows
The first shots show a child with beautiful innocent eyes, looking at a fish swimming in a small puddle of water near his school. He picks up the fish and takes it with him. These beautiful shots take us right into world of the lead protagonist Ishaan. Movie is filled with many such beautiful moments –
1) The terrace scene in the first half showing Ishaan’s frustration and anger after having a fight with his colony friends.
2) The next scene showing the difference between a mom and a dad’s reaction to
there son’s complain from there neighbors. Dad is angry about the complain, but Mom is more bothered whether Ishaan has been hurt or not. I am sure every mom dad and there Son can connect to this scene very well.
3) Scene showing Ishaan solving a simple Mathematics problem 3 * 6. Ishaan buildsan imaginative Sci-fi world on this problem and solves this problem there. And need less to ask he solves it incorrectly.
4) Song sequence Jame Raho which introduces the main members of the family. The lyrics of the song change according to the character being portrayed in the Song. We hardly see such thought being put into writing https://lyrics.
These are the first scenes of the movie which briefly give a character sketch of Ishaan’s family, a family that could be living anywhere. There are many such scenes which make a mark on the viewer all through out the movie. The first half of the film gives an insight into world of Ishaan his wonderful imaginations and his frustrations on why he’s not able read properly. The second half tells us about the problem that Ishaan is facing and how he is able to come out of the it with flying colors. The second half is also filled with many scenes that touch your heart
1) Aamir explaining to Ishaan’s parents about his real problem.
2) Taare zameen pe title track which easily could bring tear into any body’s eyes.
3) Aamir explaining to Ishaan’s father about what he could have done to make Ishaan happy and scene there after when he scene Ishaan trying to read and he is too guilty to even speak to his child.
4) The last scene when Ishaan is not able to face so much adulation when he wins the painting contest.
The best part of the movie is that it not only tells us about dyslexia, but also tells us how much trouble is being forced upon on young minds of our country for them to be successful in life. The underlying theme of the movie that every child is special and should be handled with love and care is beautifully portrayed and instantly connects with the audience.
On the technical aspect, a special mention should also go for SEL’s music. All the songs go along with flow of the movie and take the story forward. The film’s lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are nothing short of magic. I have never seen such thought being put into writing https://lyrics. Story by Amol Gupte is well written and most importantly has its heart in the right place. Direction by Aamir is top notch. He extracts top notch work from all his technicians as well as all his lead and Supporting actors.
His deft handling is visible in many scenes all through out the movie. On the acting front acting by all actors is top notch. Be it Ishaan’s loving mother, Ishaan’s dad who wants his son to be successful in the rat race but some where forgets the fact that marks are not the only measure of success of a child can be measured. Aamir under plays his character beautifully. As always he shows most of his emotions with his eyes. The star of the show is the Taara for this film Ishaan. This has to go down as one of the most memorable performances by a debutant actor in any film. The kid is a thorough natural and holds his own in all his scenes. If I try to identify one thing that I didn’t like in this movie it would be Aamir’s introduction song which could have been better or even edited.
To summarize the movie is well intended and extremely well executed. I would recommend all to go and watch this movie. If you like kids go and watch this movie. If you don’t like them, still go and watch this movie. You might just begin to like them and more importantly understand them more.
