When you have a cursory glance at the title of the movie, it does not reveal that it is a realty show, nor does it disclose what is in store for you as an audience.
Overall a simple plot is turned into a nerve wracking reality show, wherein the couple concerned take off for a holiday to Fiji Isle and it coincides with their fifth marriage anniversary. The Resort owner Khan ( Paresh Raval ) bestows on the couple Vivaan ( Rajeev Khandewal ) and Sia ( Tina Desae ) a luxurious plane ride and beautiful champaigne as a complement.
It is a dream come true for Vivaan who is supposedely out of work and his wife holding on to hers with strings attached. The great scenic beach locale, resort atmosphere and romantic encounters fades into a distant memory as soon as the dice is cast for a game show by the resort owner Khan. The game is captured live by hidden cameras and relayed to audience via internet.
When Khan says the couple could win as much as 21 crores at the end of the 8 questions, with final one being a rapid fire round. All questions needs to be answered truthfully, by stating Yes or No and followed with tasks after end of each round of question and answer session. The first question is easily answered by Vivaan truthfully, which is certified by the lie detector turning on the green lights, and the difficult task of manipulation too is successfully completed by the Hero.
Well they think it is a joke and want to quickly escape the embarrassment or rather continue enjoying their romantic interludes rather than get their privacy tampered by Khan and his cronies. The wanna skip the game offer terming it as bhakra but when they see 21 crore currency in the chest and virtual transfer of 1 crore into their bank account, the couple get serious to continue the game show.
How the game show twists and turns, with Khan reminding them always do not lie otherwise you will loose your life. Will the couple manage to win 21 crores on stake ? The simple game gets more and more complicated with noose tightening around the couples neck as it were, bringing out bitter truth or facets in the bargain of their individual life. Come guys now go for the movie because it has a wonderful lesson to be learnt at the end of the movie, particularly for the College going students.
I don t want to rob the suspense of the plot. The movie is wonderfully scripted and directed with not much of star power. Who wants a star power ? This is comprehensive proved, even a low budget movie can really be show stopper if executed brilliantly. Kudos to the director and the entire team of Table No 21. I hope movies such as these gets nominated for the Oscar rather crass commercial movies.
Such movies deserve to made TAX FREE so that maximum Gen Next watch it and learn that reality bites in the End.
