Schwarzkopf 'All Weather taft' hairspray review

I realised one fine day, during my journey towards ’self-realisation’ that my hair fit into the perfect definition of ’wavy’ what with my strands being too straight while curling demurely at the ends.Nothing wrong with it, you might say.Albeit, I longed for changes according to my everchanging moods. On getting a curling iron, I was thrilled at the prospects of achieving ’Hollywood Glamour’ hairstyles. The only problem I endured was that my curls never lasted from day to noon which was when I returned back home.My friend suggested using a hairspray & the ’researcher’ in me sprang to life, going over countless youtube videos dedicated to various hairsprays.

As expected I wasn’t able to find a lot of the brands mentioned here & the ones I did manage to get a hold of were handsomely priced. At that point of time, Tresemme hair products weren’t launched in my city as yet.I finally had to rely on L’oreal’s ’Elnett’ which I wasn’t too thrilled about, hence ditched the idea & bought a considerably cheaper alternative-Schwarzkopf’s ’taft’.

The reason I picked this up was mainly ’cause Schwarzkopf being German have given us great products like Fa & various salon products I remember seeing when going out with mum(yes, I hate Hitler, but German hair products are a different story altogether).

’taft’ seemingly offers a wide variety of hair care & styling technologies suitable for every hairstyle & yes, our local stores have dedicated a separate section to ’taft’ & Wella. The one I got was the hairspray with Extra Strong Hold ’3’ for normal hair. The range goes up till ’5’, hence there’s no ’one size, fits all’ deal here. This huge 250 ml spray lasted me for about two years. It cost around R.O. 1.600 aka Rs.160, which compared to Elnett’s price range of R.O. 4.500 or Rs. 450 for 100 ml, is considerably cheaper. The can is greyish silver with violet writing over it.Pretty attractive, but unfortunately doesn’t stand a chance in getting noticed next to the gold canisters of ’Elnett’.Sometimes though, plain Jane does the task. The product claims to not weigh down your hair, protect it from dryness, non-sticky formula & is capable of being brushed out easily.According to me, the can is easy to use.The nozzle sprays the product effectively. This never managed to weigh my hair down & my curls or starightened strands lasted almost an entire day-to-night look.On applying some hair oil & brushing through my locks, the product did effectively come out.The smell comprises the sweet aroma of shampoos from the salon, although it is a bit tacky & synthetic. The ’Senso Touch Effect’ claims itself to leave hair with a silky soft touch without stiffness.I have to say that my styles did seem soft on touching inspite of the hairspray.Although while applying too much during my novice days, the dullness & stickiness came into play.I like the fact that this has a UV-filter which many hairstyling products cease to realise the importance of.It does last through excessive sunny days, wind & the humidity as the can suggests.Under humid conditions though, please avoid spraying a lot of product as this can have an inverse effect.During rainy times..........well come on, we have to be realistic here.On fierce windy storms, the style does survive. One has to remember that our weather conditions & pollution count is pretty different here when compared to India. On using it in Chennai, the product did live upto its standards, but please don not leave your hair open, spray this product on &   then go for a bike ride without your helmet.Open head cars, ok.Over 120 km/hr, no!That much speed for my hair & the product didn’t even work in my part of town.

All in all, pretty good & most importantly lives up to its claims.

Final grade-A+, did you know Heidi Klum endorses ’taft’?Go figure.........
