Eating at the Taj

We were on a trip to Hassan and Chikmaglur districts. Driving by car, the road was good and we reached Chickmaglur at about 2:00 in the afternoon.

We decided a little hesitantly to eat at the Taj, being well versed with the Bangalore prices. Hoping to find a buffet that would make it affordable, we were dismayed when informed that there was none. The menu provided good reassurance however. Most of the veg dishes were in the range of 80-120 per plate and the non-veg ones were about 150-200 per plate. We ordered bottle of beer and some main course, followed by desert of course. The tab came to approx. Rs. 600 for 2 including tips. Not really economical, but not too expensive either.

Now, for the best part:

Ambience: really really good. Great view from the garden next to the restaurant.

Service: Very attentive and polite.

Food: Well made, tasty, served hot and not too greasy.

Helping size: Decent

The place was absolutely fabulous. On the way out, we enquired about the room rents and they were an astounding Rs. 9000-Rs. 14000 depending on category, and also completely booked out!

It was a good experience all in all. Recommended for that one expensive lunch you would want on a holiday.
