Hello theatre lovers! if you are ready to laugh your heart out and fall from your seat for a period of two hours, then you must purchase a ticket of Taj Mahal Ka Tender, next time the show comes in your city. It is of course a laugh riot in a pure sense. The show works on a simple logic that Taj Mahal must be constructed by hook or trook, but its absolutely illogical to whom the tender goes and when does the structure comes into being.
The plot begins with the government officials planning to take up the construction and hence create a huge list of expenses which will be presented to theneck-deep-in-love ruler Shah Jahan. The court scene takes a huge roound of appluase for the Shah Jahan is not only romantic but a freaky, crazy and footy character. Sorry for inventing the new word, butfootyrefers to his excellent footwork. His style was unique and the most humorous part of his personality.
The characters have been planted at very interesting points and bring a new flavor to the plot. The Government official and his subordinate, the land dealer and his wife gives the plot a dramatic as well as a important turn. Shah Jahan is always found with his three assistants and his brother-in-law, the conversation between whom is full of comic punches and acts, which is good enough to blow your brain.
The tender of the monumental Taj Mahal keeps on changing hands , but never takes its actual shape even when Shah Jahan is in no condition to take a note of it. The presentation of daily expenses and the schemes to profit from the huge project at the cost of ever increasing royal budget gave me good reasons to be hysterical in midst of the attentive audience.
Aur is tarah wo kal kabhi nahi ata jis din Taj Mahal ban ke tayar ho- aur ek din hamare Sahenshah expenses ki list dekhte hi dekhte eyes close kar lete hai. ha!ha!ha!
I enjoyed this 2 hrs joyride and would love to see more of such plays. If anyone has a good list, then plaese advise it to me.
