The Dolphins Point Restaurant has a superb location - by the waterfron, overlooking the harbour - there are very few parallels in the world as far as location go. Service personnel are very polite an helpful. However, when they see that you are with an overseas guest, they just recommend the most expensive food, wine and drink - you are in no position to refuse or look at lower cost options. This is downright hitting below the belt.
Just to put things in perspective - the other day my colleague dined at the restaurant along with 2 overseas guests. They just had grilled fish a couple of starters and a bottle of Sula wine. They ran up a bill of Rs. 10, 500 just for the 3 of them! Funnily enough, a former colleague of mine also had overseas vistors that same evening and had the very same food - grilled fish - instead of the wine, they had 4 large vodkas. They were provided with a bill of Rs. 15, 500!
The ambience was great, the food was good and the service also good but at this pricing? If this is not a rip off, then what is?
Weve made up our mind not to entertain our guests there anymore.
