Talaash..Hmmm how to start this review???? Lets make things simple, we will talk about 1st half and 2nd half. 1st half holds you, makes you think and has continuity. Story has twists and turns and that’s what you expect from a thriller. However 2nd half has more of emotional content, which weakens the story and also interest. Movie is slow in second half and not very well edited/ written. A decent script with good music and not so good background score/ effects. Aamir khan as cop (he actually looks like cop, unlike other khan’s who play army men and look like.... I don’t want even to comment) is just like any normal cop no supermen stuff only follow up. In fact I feel his role does not have that space where he can portray “aamirness”
This is actually not a thriller, but thriller with emotions and another angle (though you will get to know about that, but my rules don’t allow me to disclose). And how can I forget to mention sensuality, thanks to Kareena; she looks hot and just fits into the role. Kareena is the star in movie and has done full justice to her role. Her dialogue delivery, expressions and movements actually move u. Good job Bebo. Rani has a serious but not so important role.
2- 3 songs are good, acting wise we have Aamir , Rani and Bebo so not much to complaint. However I have complaint about story, which started on a fantastic note in beginning and gave feeling of Aaamir Khan class movie, eventually deteriorated and last 10 minutes are disaster. Emotional portion was not very well written and it was more like disturbance in the thriller aspect. In between there were few portions which were just patched up and does not make any sense . Ending of the movie is not satisfactory , as I said above last 10 -15 mimutes portion is just not as per class of Excel or Aaamir.
I saw 11 pm show on Friday and it was houseful, but people were not happy in the end, I expect that word of mouth publicity may not go in favour of movie and this will not earn very good money in tier 2 – tier 3 cities. I am not a trade expert this is my gut felling and I would want to testify it time and again.
My verdict is do watch it once, don’t expect much. Be happy with first half and wait for release of Dhoom – 3.
