"TALAASH is no KAHAANI but worth a watch "

TALAASH -> when its Mr Aamir Khan at the helm of affairs you take certain things for granted and the usual elements of cinema are good this time too and work together in perfect harmony , noticeable among them are the excellent cinematography, sound editing, the slow lingering songs which stay with you for long, Rani mukherjee and Aamir himself.

Aamir aces the role of...a troubled police officer with his insomnia act showing certain similiarities with the role played by Robert De Niro in the cult classic "Taxi Driver" ’1976. His is a very constrained performance and the feeling which I got is Aamir gave this performance without having the need to go into second gear ! Rani, oh Rani, wish, this movie wud not have got so delayed due to Satyamev Jayate , or else Rani may not have felt the need to do a shambolic "Aiyya" , her expressions rock as always ! Kareena is her glamourous self , nothin home to write about. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is so natural as always. The movie is a tad slow for a "thriller" and it fails to keep you on the edge of ur seats but still the script has enuf convolutions to keep you interested. There are parallel story lines running -one about Aamir’s personal life and the other about the case itself with good amounts of flashbacks to add to the suspense !The climax is a bit "iffy" , either you will digest it or you will not , there is no middle path in this but giving credits to Reema for making it look non-spooky and digestible.

The Indian thriller movie scene indeed is now gaining momentum with big stars doing this genre. Aamir has done better work before this but still its he only who holds the film together .People, "TALAASH" is no "KAHAANI" but still a good movie to watch once :)
