Food for brain, dealt with a heart

I wanted to watch this movie since the very inception of it; not only because of its plot, its brilliant performers, its producers but mainly because of its director. I had fell in love with Meghna Gulzar for her directorial abilities since Filhaal and I felt that she not only thinks ahead of her times but also gives a completely different human touch to her direction.

Though in Talvar, Meghna must have faced couple of challenges as this is not completely a fiction work and she along with the script writer had t stick with much known facts, yet kudos to her for maintaining a striking balance between facts and their on screen representation.

To talk about the cast, much was expected from Neeraj Kabi(Dr. Ramesh Talvar) as he has proved himself in Vyomkesh Bakshi and from Konkana Sen Sharma(Dr. Nutan Talvar) as no comments required on her acting skills. They both are good though could probably have been better. Irrfan Khan as the Investigating CDI officer has been natural and very impressive throughout the movie and Tabu, in a very small and non significant role has been equally good.

Special mention goes to Sumit Gulati(Kanhaiya) and the actor who played(Rajpal) specially in the scenes where they undergo Narco tests.

Actors like Shishir Sharma, Sohum Shah, Prakash Belawadi, Atul Kumar(all officials of CDI) have done justice to their roles.

There are 4 songs in the movie, penned down by Gulzar sa’ab so obviously have to be lyrically beautiful though since they are used as background songs and the movie is so intense that they do not seek much attention.

Dialogues are worth mentioning, specially those of Irrfan Khan, almost all through the movie and specifically in the scene where the 2 CDI teams are contradicting each other’s investigations.

Overall, a must watch movie at least for those who think and think with their hearts and just don’t watch movies for entertainment only. Till I watched Talvar, I believed that the Dr. couple was the culprit as has been represented and promulgated by the media, but after this, I have been forced to think twice and am much coveted to know the real truth.
