Tamasha, directed by Imtiaz Ali, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala is a Ranbir- Deepika starrer.
It is the story of Ved, a man who lost himself due to social conventions, and how he discovers himself along the course of his life.
Ved, the protagonist, is a character enchanted with stories and story telling, but is forced to study engineering.
The story revolves around his professional and personal life and how he juggles with it. where Ranbir is given more screen space than Deepika.
I shall not give any more spoilers.
The movie doesnt glue you to the screen due to various reasons:
Deepika tries too hard to blend in during the first half, Matargashti being an example.
The soundtrack of the movie doesnt promote emotions, instead its a mere distraction.
The first half of the movie is sort of plain looking, compared to the second half.
Its a one-time watch, not a gripping epic movie.
The movie lacks direction for most of its duration.
It certainly isnt Imtiaz Alis best movie till date.
It was better than rockstar, but not as good as Highway.
As the name suggests, Tamasha is theatrical, filmy, cliched yet flamboyant.
It becomes predictable after some time.
However, the movie is quite relatable to those having an artistic side to their personality.
