Sharing my detailed review of Mahagun Sarovar Portico Ghaziabad.
On 3rd of December 2021, I called Mahagun Hotel number for a reservation of a table for 5 people at their highly rated rooftop restaurant around 7:30 P.M. They called me back, confirming the reservation of the table at 9:15 P.M.
Below is the timeline-wise experience:
9:18 PM: I reached the Hotel at 9:18 PM to my surprise to not find any reserve table, the person there asks me to wait for 10 minutes for the table.
9:25 PM: Strangely by 9:25 we were at the table and within 3 minutes of scrolling through the menu nearly every table was vacated and every other guest was paying the bills and moved towards the exit.
So technically around 9:30 PM, it was our table and one more couple occupying another table, 6 chefs visible in a see-through kitchen and 3 people at service/waiters.
9:35 PM: I place my order for 3 drinks with Coca Cola, 1 non veg starter and 2 veg starters.
9:50 PM: I had to remind my server about the order and he tells me he is getting the drink in 2 minutes as for the last 15 minutes there is no one paying attention to our table.
By this time I had realized that the service is bad and so I place the order for my main course as well.
10:00 PM: I went to the bar counter to my chock that they had served the drink and its kept at the counter with no one ready to serve it on the table, I get hold of a waiter who tells me that within 2 minutes he is getting the drinks at my table.
10:05 PM: They serve the non veg starter (and only that)
10:10 PM: He gets the 3 drinks on the table without Coca Cola and ice, I had to remind him of getting Coca Cola.
10:15 PM: He gets me Pepsi, when confronted that I don’t want Pepsi and I want only Coke, he tells me that they don’t have Coca Cola.
10:20 PM: I get my 2 veg starters. This is 45 minutes after the order was placed and that too when none other table is occupied and there are 6 chefs are working in the kitchen.
10:30 PM: I ask the waiter to refill my drink and to the shock, he tells me that there is no more liquor of the same brand/variety (Old Monk RUM or any other RUM) available.
10:40 PM: I get my main course and waiter tells me to place the final order… I tell him to wait for 5-10 minutes for me to judge how many more breads will be needed.
10:45 PM: He comes back again and tells me that they need to close the restaurant, this is the time I actually lose my patience as I’m feeding my 3.5 years old kid and kids take time. These people were expecting that I can feed a 3-year-old kid in 5 minutes…
In a nutshell… Don’t go to Sarovar Portico Ghaziabad as it’s the worst place to go to…
