Tanushree Dutta is yet another Miss India who decided to pursue a career in bad ole’ Bollywood. Born in 1985, , she had not imagined that she’d be part of tinsel town at the tender age of 20. Originally from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, Tanushree’s father Tappan is an officer with LIC, Life Insurance Corporation of India, but she wanted to make it big in showbiz.
She moved to the Mumbai area and enrolled as a B Com student at Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, where she even won the Miss BMCC crown. Officially, she still resides in Pune .In the meantime, she worked with an even management company and pursued modelling, primarily in ad campaigns and some music video.
When she was 18{2004}, Tanushree tried out for the Femina competition and was brought to the regional rounds, but in that year and previous year, she failed to make it to the final group of contestants. After much effort, she made it following year, and aside from picking up the main crown over 28 others, she won the VLCC Miss Confidence and Pond’s Miss Beautiful Smile sub-titles.Out of 80 delegates, she finished among the top ten finalists in the pageant in Miss India contest. And since then there has been no looking back...
Bollywood career...
Vivek Agnihotri gave her quite a sensational role in ’Chocolate’ opposite 3 actors. Needless to say, the film flopped and she became far from being an overnight acting sensation, yet she managed to sign up a modicum of work here and there on account of her high glamour quotient. But Tanushree’s real debut was the dismal ’Ashiq Banaya Aapne’ in which she was paired opposite Emraan.She would have preferred Chocolate to be her debut but a mediocre ABA came first, angering Vivek Agnihotri as well. But the brickbats she received for both the movies did not dishearten Tanushree. She has managed to bag the tag of a sex symbol. So what if her figures and curves are more spoken about than her acting!
She is yet to receive glowing reviews from the press and prove her mettle as an actress of substance. But as a glamour doll who’s meant to pout and gyrate, she’s doing well for herself. After ’Chocolate’ and ’Ashiq Banaya’, she was recently seen in 36 China Town which has expectedly bombed.
Of course, she is lucky that she’s had the support of Aditya Dutt [dir:ABA] in more ways than one! The man has been recommending her for many films, which also gave birth to the news that she was having a secret affair with him after his marriage. Of course, the two vehemently deny it, but Tanushree knows that it’s the survival of the fittest in this cutthroat industry! And if she doesn’t scrub other’s backs, no one will scrub hers!
