Siddharth Anand thought of making a movie that has his favourite things like car race, cartoons, newyork city and characters straight out of a cindrella story. Well, but  he had to write a story that connects all of this. So the broad storyline he came up with was a happy family followed by a tragedy, then hero fights back and they lived happily since then.

Now, making this storyline into a screenplay was too boring of a job for Siddharth,  so he hired someone else to do the needful. While watching the movie you could actually see that he was least interested in directing the movie as well, but couldn’t resist his desire to see his name as the director of the movie. So he decides to direct.

Movie starts with lot of ho-ha about the car race and moves on to the cindrella story with a little girl narrating the family drama. The first few meetings between saif and rani could have been handled better, even by a first time third grade assistant director. Anyway, the happy happy story moves ahead along with shady jokes from Javed Jaffari  and a little bit of melodrama between rani and her father.  They are married and even before you could blink they have 2 kids in their bedroom. Guess what? the family is complete and happy. Just the right time for tradegy. Cindrella castle comes crashing down and things go from bad to worst. Actually, in between the hero gets back on the race track before the castle completely collapses, but he decideds not to win the race at the last minute . Not sure, what on earth the hero, sorry our director sahab siddharth was thinking in that scene. As if one scene wasn’t enough, he adds a similar scene in the second half when saif is driving his cab to JFK at the speed of fighter jet and suddenly slows down. Siddharth why? tell me why? Javed Jaffari decideds to leave saif in the first half, but changes his mind in the second half . Siddharth why?  Rani skips her lunch, but decides to keep the dog with them. Siddharth Why? I can go on and on with the why’s, but I will stop here. Kids were used effectively to add the required melodrama for the family audience. Saif, Rani and Kids all were strictly ok in their acting department. The music was possibly the worst we have seen from Vishal Shekhar.  Binod Pradhan’s camera work was quite good and that’s probably the only thing I liked about the movie.

I know Yashraj films like Siddharth Anand, and that’s why he got a second chance after “Salaam Namsatey” which also was a equally bad movie. I really hope YashRaj banner thinks twice before backing up this director again. But on second thoughts, though his last movie was bad, it made good money and probably this will end up making good business too. It’s all abt family entertainment. So, as long as nonsense movies like this make business as family entertainer, Yashji keep making money.
