Tara Rum Pum shows indians doing something in which they are unbeatable, walking through difficult times with a smile on their face. The plot follows the classic narrative style of filmmaking and maintains the order-disorder-order restored pattern. RV is a star racer who meets an accident that makes him loose his career and all that he has. its about how with the help of his family, he comes out of this situation, regains hif lost glory, this time with a maturity and responsibility.
The performance are believable, realistic and yet, very glamorous. The director has done a very good job of extracting beautiful performances from the kids. Their character arcs are beautifully drawn and they come out very well with the movie. The first forty minutes of the movie are glamorous, trendy and it shows the characters in a carefree way, spending more than they earn. for a moment you feel all this is unnecessary, but then in the second half when you find out that their glamorous life was costing them more than they could earn, then i makes sense and then you find the second half more believable.
The cinematography is brilliant and the shot division of the car racing scenes is amazing. When it comes to making their audiens sit at the edge of their seats, no one can beat the Yash Raj people. The brilliant cinematography is supported by the equally brilliant editing. there are some low angle shots of cars going through the camera which have been kept for only as many frames as are required to register them. This adds on to the adventure the movie offers to its audience.
The music is like any other YRF, peppy, glamorous, and a treat to watch. the choreography is also beautiful.
The only thing that could have been better is the characterisation of the supporting characters. they all look unidimensional. And also, this movie is meant with a porpuse to entertain you. So please dont expect anything spectacularly creative from it. It is a true Hindi Masala film, and serves the porpuse its made for beautifully.
I would have given the movie 3.5 stars but since we have an option of either 3 or 4, I would give it 4.
