This is one of the most finest place on earth. Very nice clean beaches, nice people, awesome sight seeing and it is one of the 100 places in the world to visit before you die.
Let me explain you my whole trip.
Tarkarli lies on the konkan belt, ahead of ratnagiri and before Goa. Beaches here are untouched and its not crowded too. I booked Siddhivinayak Resort from Mumbai itself. ask for Manoj, Tel no : 02365248407 .
Insist for a 1st room as its sea facing and you will really enjoy the view. If you don’t get the first room also, its ok, others rooms are also very much close to the beach, Really a nice guy and very very helpful. We were 6 people. so we requested them to arrange a cab from station to resort. hiring 2 ricks or one cab costs the same (350rs for one rick which can include 3 people, 800rs for cab, included 6-7 people) . Our was 3 day plan (Fri-sat-sun), 6 people.
We booked Janshatabdi train (super fast train), early Friday morning train leaving from Mumbai..Please note: this is a sitting class train. if you want sleeper train, book Thursday night train. Book trains well in advance..
Got to see many beautiful tunnels, (36 tunnels) mind blowing scene scenery on the konkan belt. Get down at Kudal Station (around 12:30 pm noon) , from there it is a 45 min drive to the resort, very nice narrow clean roads.
Once you reach the resort, what you see is the most spectacular view. our room was facing bang next to the beach (Just 10-15 feet away) , awesome clean water and loud roaring sound of the waves. have never stayed so much close to the beach.was thrilling experience..
Rooms and bathrooms were airy , neat and clean.
What you can do over there.
1st day - get fresh, have some nice food at the resort (Veg, non veg both, ) laze around at the beach, we played cricket, volleyball at the beach, go to shopping at malvan, cashew nut factory. saw many sea creatures, like crabs, star fishes,

2nd Day - early morning, go for boat ride (Boat arrangement will be done by the resort itself) which will be in the mid sea in fisherman’s boat ( initially frightening exp but awesome) which will include dolphin watch, nivati beach, sangam point ( river meets the ocean, superb), tsunami island. This is the most amazing experience, tsunami island is small island in the middle of the river, where there are eating stalls also. the thought of standing in the river covered by all sides is so mesmerising and exotic. the view of the whole river from the island is once in a lifetime view.
Come back to the resort and then go to sindhudurg fort, and do snorkling.Amazing thing is even a non-swimmer can do that, since guides are always around to help us. If you have come to tarkalri and didnt do snorkling, then its a waste. You get to see the most amazing fishes, corals. Once Snorkling is done, visit Sindhu Durg fort, built by Great Maratha Shivaji Maharaj. Its huge around 48 acres, you will need a guide to roam around fort. Fort is not properly maintained and government should really do something about this.
3rd Day - laze around at the beach, eat good non veg fresh food, go to rock garden, ganesh temple Made of gold) and catch janshatabdi train at 4 pm from kudal station to Mumbai.
Expenditure - 2000rs / person inclusive all.
Breakup of the cost :Train tickets (to and fro) - 400rs / person.. Cab cost ( 1600rs, to and fro from station) for 6 persons. Room stay - 700rs / one day which can include 6 persons easily. extra bed will cost around 100rs. Food - around 100rs / day per person. Boating - 1200rs for 6 persons. Snorkeling : 250rs / person..Sindhudurg fort - 50rs / person. (includes Guide’s cost too)
Make sure to bargain on Room stay and Boat ride.
Note : Mobile Network is terrible over there. Only BSNL works properly (Reliance also works, but I have not checked personally, so cant comment) . Other Mobile networks works partially. So make sure there are no expected important calls.
