Tarkarli is situated in south of Malvan and 575-km from Mumbai on the west coast of India, at the confluence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. Tarkarli beach has gained prominence because of its long and narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters. On a fairly clear day, one can see the bed unto a depth of 20 ft in other way you can say it is virgin beach. The view is beautyful with tall Shuru trees in the background. The route goes through small villages with cashew and mango trees filling their compounds. Mangoes were abundant and we could also see ripe cashews on some trees. Sadly, most trees were inside private properties. The river is wide, the beautiful sailboats and the tiny wonderful islands hamlets situated on the riverbank, add to the picturesque beauty of Tarkarli. Other attractions of the Tarkarli are the forts Sindhudurg, Maharashtras more popular and important sea fort, built in the 17th century and the famous Padmagarh fort.
