Films as far as I understand are a medium for entertainment & at times they do convey a significant message.
YRF banner’s production & debutant director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Tashan lives up to the above statement & does convey a message but with a different meaning, which is how not to make a movie.
Anybody who is considering a career in writing & direction must watch this film as it is an encyclopedia of mistakes, which will teach him instantly what not to do while writing a script & directing a film.
What makes the prestigious banner like YRF approve the making of this film is only known to them. Because with the experience of almost half a century, they should know what works & what not.
Films can be either good or bad but Tashan beats them all as it creates a new category of films called very bad. Honestly after watching the film I had no idea what the makers wanted to show.
Anil Kapoor a gangster from UP wants to learn English & with the help of Kareena Kapoor hires Saif Ali Khan to teach him English. Kareena plays a game & with the help of Saif, escapes with Rs. 25 crores of Anil Kapoor. Enters Akshay Kumar, an aide of Anil Kapoor from UP, who is asked to bring the culprits back. Looks like another run of the mill stuff, right?
Hold on your horses friends, its not what you think it would be as the writer threw a bomb shell of the love triangle & wait if you still have the appetite to swallow more, there is revenge too.
The writing & execution is so shoddy & amateurish that it will raise your blood pressure. It is so imaginary that at times it becomes unbelievable to digest that it can really happen. Honestly I can believe in the existence of aliens but what is shown in Tashan cannot be believed.
Vijay Acharya missed the opportunity of his life time. He need to attend a crash course in direction before he takes up his next assignment. At least he will learn when to say CUT.
Music is unbearable.
Action scenes were so pathetic that one finds it hard to believe that in this modern times the makers believed that the viewers will agree to what is shown.
Performance wise only Akshay Kumar does justice to his role. Why did Anil Kapoor agree to do this role? Why? Saif was strictly ok. Kareena was busy showing her ZERO figure & what can you say about something that is ZERO?
YRF left no stone unturned to market their film & everything started with article THE. THE film, THE music, THE director (was he there?), THE action & the result was THE DISASTER.
