I bought a 4 wheeler insurance policy(0157475021 00) for my car for a total of Rs 9600. After some days, I got a call from a representative of the company, informing me that I need to pay an extra amount of Rs 393 for some discrepancy, for which I readily agreed. The representative told me that within 48 hours I will receive a call and a link to my mail id through which I can pay the extra amount. I waited for more than a week and I did not get any call or mail. I called the customer care number to resolve the issue. The guy at the other end told me that I will get the said link withing 48 hours and nothing happened. Meanwhile I sent a slew of mails with no resolution in sight. I again called the customer care after about two weeks and the guy at the other end told me that the next day it will get resolved and requested me to call the customer care the next day. Please note that they wanted the customer to call rather than they calling the customer. Since I wanted a resolution to the problem, I called the next day, as advised, and I was told that my policy expired about 2 months ago!
Imagine my shock and I demanded why I was not informed about the cancellation, and there was no response except some lame excuses that they sent a letter, which I have nor received. Imagine a company cancelling a policy without talking to a customer and sending snail mail instead of email or SMS messages. Till now I have not got my refund as well. So, please do your self a favour and do not buy anything from TATA AIG. They are a bunch of unethical people running an unethical company. At the least they should have sent a SMS message about my policys cancellation. So I rest my case with a bitter experience from TATA AIG.
What can I say about a company which promises one thing and never delivers(to send a link for extra money and each and every time did not keep its promise), and all along my policy stood cancelled. I still do not understand why I was taken for a ride.
